1999 Cristal

I don’t recall ever having this wine, but the ‘99 Philipponnat Clos des Goisses was the earliest drinking vintage of their wine I can ever recall.

The '99 Cristal was nice, but is definitely in a "drink" rather than "hold" place.

I haven't had the '99 CdG. The 2000 CdGs I've had have been very solid.
A 2006 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne is currently chilling... although I think I'm going to switch it out for a 2002 Lanson Gold Label.

We'll be drinking it with our standard NYE feast of oysters, followed by steamed lobster, and then tiger shrimps & rice in a simple lemon, white wine, olive oil & garlic sauce.
We're tasked with bringing dessert to a potluck dinner with friends tonight, so I'll be carting along a bottle of 1964 Taylor Fladgate Single Harvest Tawny Port to accompany a honey cake that my wife made.

Hosts will be providing 3 different bottlings of Taittinger Champagnes, a tribute to the fact that we had accompanied them on a tour of Taittinger in Reims in 2012. They're definitely not really serious wine people (I'mp pretty sure that Comtes will not be one of the bottles), so I'm very touched and impressed that they're doing this in an effort to please me. Finally, karma pays off! Smile
