it doesnt affect me any more then any other wine consumer... good for you if you're prospecting, i hope you're able to flip and buy more wine you like... i just find it comedy the way wine continues to be marketed... it kinda reminds of DeBeers & diamonds in a way - i guess you're only as good as your last Top 100 spot. but i guess i shouldn't complain too much right, i mean, WS is just trying to keep themselves employed right? i guess i can't blame them for hyping their own list... but i just have to say, this thread is more about the clock itself but i guess putting that in the title doesnt mean anything

I enjoy the Top 100 as a wine lover, and of course I too loathe it as a wine lover.
I have a complete collection of W.S. Top 100's from 1997, 1998, 2000, and 2002. Obviously, some bottles have and will pass their prime before or without ever being opened, but the nostalgia and passion I have for wine collecting makes up for that.

I like it too.

The top 100 is about as meaningful as a typical Letterman top 10 list. It cracks me up when I see it as a marketing tool in wine stores and supermarkets.

it's interesting to me and nothing more. i always enjoy seeing what others perceive as great wines, although i accept that i will probably never drink most of them

I was not referencing "another" as you duplicating a post. I was just putting you in that catagory of poster.

I look at it for 10 minutes too see how they figure the top 100 and then think about Qpr and then I forget about it. I'll bet the 2003 columbia crest grand estates merlot makes it since they gave it a 90 rating for a $9 bottle of wine. I had it and it was ok but I wouldn't say it is an outstanding wine.

They made the 1999 guigal Cheateaunufdupape number one and that was made from purchased grapes and 1999 wasn't even that great a year in southern rhone. I was disappointed. The same year they gave the 1999 Allain Graillot crozes hermitage 93 pts and number eight and It was totally shut down so I don't take much from the top 100 list.
