Later this month, I'll be at a family gathering in the Pleasanton/Livermore area followed by a quick trip to Pebble Beach. I won't have a lot of time for straying, but I will surely find some time to slip away. Are there any wineries you'd recommend close by/in the Livermore Valley, or near Carmel/Monterey?

It's been about 8 years since I've toured through so I've got nothing current. Thomas Coyne was always the best in Livermore. If you search on 'Livermore' you might find my reviews. Mostly touristy and average.

If you have the time there are better wineries in Berkley. I think we're probably too far away for a 'slip away'. Something I recommended though a few years ago was take the family horseback riding at Cooper Garrod and you can visit the winery there, and hit Big Basin and Cinnabar.
Not sure where you are staying. We always rent one of the cottages on the 18th fairway on Pebble, which is fantastic.

We arrange for a half-day tour through the concierge which works well. They will have a driver for you, food if you like, and will schedule anyplace you like in advance.

We have been to many, but we always enjoy our time at Talbott and Bernardus.

I have both Talbott and Bernardus on my list, thanks, and those are the only two names I've got. I was wondering if there were any others under my radar?
