Odd to see that the wine and beer sales are down in Canada. Article did not specify why other than taxes and drinking laws

It's stupid expensive to drink here. Was at the in-laws place in New York last weekend. Not exactly a low price state. Handle of rum, $30, or $32.50 USD with taxes. Same bottle is $65 CAD, which will go up as the liquor tax here is indexed to inflation, so we are going to have he largest increase in history to the already insanely high tax we pay on booze. I can see why all the young'uns smoke weed. It's cheaper and more accessible.
Wow, that is crazy. Back in the 80's, my wife and I would cross the border and spend a weekend in Vancouver. I could get access to some wines and scotch that wasn't readily available to me in WA, and it was almost always less expensive.
Handle of Kirkland spiced rum at Costco in Florida $12.99 USD. Equivalent at the KGBO, $67.95 CAD. At least the government spends all of those tax dollars responsibly.
