Does anyone know where to buy wood cases. I don't need a particular winery, I just need some in which to store some wine. Thanks in advance.

My local merchant gives me wooden crates for free. They're glad to have someone haul them out of their store! Try it.

edited to correct atrocious spelling error...

Wine Enthusiast sells them, but you have to call them. Look in one of their catalogues for the Eurocave case storage shelves (they are sliding shelves... usually in the same section as the Eurocave units). There should be a small picture of a wood case w/ something like "Wood cases available, please call for pricing".

Most retailers I've asked for wooden cases are more than happy to give them away, but they'll almost always have broken tops. The nailed slats on the top of the box are hard to preserve when prying them open. If you ask in advance, maybe they can take extra care with a few for you.
Call up Buffalo's Shipping Post in Napa.... they have a bunch of wood boxes of various shapes that they will send to you. If 411 doesn't work for you, let me know, and I'll dig up their number.

Eventually, though, you'll think about a wine cellar of some sort to store your wines in...
Thanks everyone for your repsonses. I have a 200 bottle temperature controlled cellar, but have surpassed that capacity. I need to get a locker and figured that wood cases were the best way to store wine in that format. Too much wine, and so little room!

Pyang,

Thanks for the offer. I will definitely take you up on that offer. Hopefully, I'll be back in Napa the 3rd week of July. Hope to see you then. You are the king!
