What part of town will you be at? What kind of cuisine are you seeking? BYOB?

Nana is nice...but not a great wine list and a little too romantic if you are not with a date/spouse

I am not sure. My dad used to live on the outskirts of Dallas in Frisco next to Plano. Now he is in Dallas or a lot closer. I know that sounds idiotic but it is all I know. I know am certainly flying into Dallas though.

As for food, any place with nice steaks, lamb, seafood, especially iced shellfish platters etc. I am pretty sure there is a Morton's of Chicago that has an excellent reputation, but a unique local spot would be preffered.

There is a place called Nick and Sams (close to downtown but not in downtown). It's a really nice steakhouse that will have nice steaks, seafood, but not sure about iced shellfish platters.
spo,

If you'd like to get together with some of the locals let me know. I'll send out an email to the group and see if anybody is up for a quick offline.

Since you mentioned Steaks first and prefer a local place I'd lean towards Bob's Chop House, Three Forks, Chamberlain's and possibly Al Biernat's (Al's also has quite a bit of seafood iirc). All are expensive.

If you want wine with dinner then definitely do as wine+art suggests: make a reservation at Lola's. You won't be sorry.

I would take issue to that! I was there last month with several of our local retail guy's and we found sooooo many wonderful wines from France that were great. We had 2 1983 Bordeaux wines and a 1996 Burgundy that were special.

Many many options for sure in Dallas.
Thanks for the replies everyone. The DAWGS really came out of the woodwork on this one. This trip is going to be pretty quick. Mostly family functions and I will probably be spending a little time in Austin as well. I have some uncles and cousins from Peru that I have not seen in about 18 years in that area. However, I will be traveling to Dallas more in the future and I would definately love to arrange an offline and meet up with all of you then. Again, thanks your for your reccomendations, hospitality, and the gracious invitation.
Hey DAWGS,
I ended up in McKinney Texas. Outskirts of Dallas I suppose. As I suspected I am mostly doing family type stuff. Today was a little boring. I went to Home Depot 3 times and I also went to pick up sand and rocks. I did go to dinner at a place called Tres Meridas and they have some outstanding Chile Rellenos. Next time I am in Texas I hope your offer still stands and we can meet up.

Let me get this straight, you'd rather fool with dirt & rocks than get together for an offline??? Eek I was taken aback when I read that. These people who make family a priority over drinking vino are a strange breed. Wink Razz Smile

Seriously, I hope you'll give WIML a heads-up and we'll see you next trip. Cheers!
