When was the last time the WA took a comprehensive look at the wines from the Loire Valley? I went through some of my old WA's and could not find a Loire report in the last 3 years.

Of course I found some scattered reviews for Loire wines in the Odds and Ends sections of a few issues but that is all. Why does he ignore this region? He has devoted space to an in depth look at wines from the Languedoc which, in my opinion, has a lesser reputation.

What do you think? Does the Loire Valley deserve more attention?

Parker covered the Anjou and Touraines parts of the Loire valley in issue 124 from August 1999. Also "The Loire Valley: Large, Diverse and Yet Unkown" was in issue 113 from October 1997.

Since then Loire wines have only been in things like "Recommended new releases: France" or "Value Report" or such.

Here's the issues that have wines from the Loire area of France by issue since 113:

Date # How many wines reviewed:
10-97, 113 - 153
06-98, 117 - 36
06-99, 123 - 9
08-99, 124 - 146
08-00, 130 - 29
10-00, 131 - 9
04-01, 134 - 9
08-01, 136 - 21
10-01, 137 - 20
06-02, 141 - 7
08-02, 142 - 10
02-03, 145 - 19
06-03, 147 - 6
08-03, 148 - 29
10-03, 149 - 3

By the way, erobertparker.com has FANTASTIC search abilities. It's one of the reasons it's worth to pay for Robert Parker Online. Just today I was searching for recent vintage wine with my favorite tasting notes, now if I can only find some of them!
