I was watching one of those "shows" or informercial on PBS. Now a days about 50% of PBS is created content and the other half is replaying old "documentaries" about curing your brain, or more often some entertainment (usually music) that plays to a geriatrics focused demographic--like mine. So it can be soul music of the 60s or in this case about folk music hosted by John Sebastian. It's originally from 2009. So like all of these they play them with about 3 or 4 long pledge break.
So it got me thinking. (First I want to say by dead I do not mean no one on earth either listens to it or creates it, but that it is a small percentage of music sales.) So when did folk music die? In this case we have the exact date.
October 24, 1971...the day...the folk music...died.
Absolutely the worst major hit song ever released. I've hated it since day one.
