What's for dinner Feb 2014

been on a crazy diet so I rewarded myself with a turkey and chicken liver sandwich on rye at
Ben's best kosher gourmet Deli

Queens, NY

Hosting our wine group tonight. Menu will be:

Cheese and bread
Chunky clam and bacon dip and pita chips

Osso Buco
Roasted potatoes with Chevre
Steamed broccoli

Store bought chocolate decadence cake

last night ate at Ikaros, a Baltimore Greek restaurant that has been around forever. Actually, I had my bachelor dinner there in 1983.
Nice to see the owner and his brother, clients of mine.
I had spinach pie and grilled lamb chops. My wife had crab soup and shrimp guvetsi.
The food is good and portions plentiful. Not the most gourmet place around, but friendly and warm. A Baltimore institution.

Tonight - Raclette.

pistachio crusted grouper with a gluten free spiral pasta on the side. Paired with '12 Buehler Chardonnay

It's a lot of fun breaking out the set for friends who haven't experienced it before. We get complimented on an awesome meal when the guests do half the work!

Braising some oxtails. Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet but the house sure smells good.

Tonight salmon provençal(I really like Puck's recipe, but I throw in some capers and a touch of balsamic vinegar too) w/roast fingerling potatoes and steamed green beans; 2011 Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc.

Tonight had Arctic char baked with pesto. Nice to get some bright summer flavors when we are going to get some extremly low temps in Chi this week.

Excellent meal at The Counter in Aventura last night.

I had a Southwest Beef Burger and FKG had a Tuna Burger wit sweet potato fries and a devil egg app.

Made a pot of chili (yes, with beans... ) this morning while puttering in the kitchen. It's chilling now for a re-heat tonight with some skillet cornbread. Beer TBD.
