A partial list of what I've learned:

  • that if you pay attention and listen to your friends, there's a whole wide world of affordable, intriguing white wine out there;
  • that for the most part (as there are always exceptions to the rule) I like my Barolo younger - more or less in the 12-20 age range;
  • that I'm no longer interested in red CdP unless it has serious bottle age, and even then it doesn't really lift my skirt;
  • that my tastes have moved up the road to Northern Rhone, and I can't get enough of bloody raw meat and bacon fat;
  • that I'm a fan of autolytics in my Champagne;
  • that I could drink Champagne every night of the week;
  • that I have a serious wine-buying problem.
1. The 40 bottle capacity wine fridge I bought 18 months ago is half the size it needs to be for my current needs and a fifth of the size of my future aspirations.

2. Its better to just not tell the girlfriend when I buy costly juice. She will be blissfully ignorant in 2016.

3. I need to sign up to be on more mailing lists. Joined Dirty and Rowdy this year and really enjoyed their stuff. Had a Foxen PN last night in Pasadena and it was awesome. I'm definitely signing up for theirs.

Note to self: don't serve CdP to g-man the next time you see him.

Doesn't everyone have the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy with their SO?

it usually leads to a mysterious collection of shoes a and bags

Something else I learned this year: g-man likes shoes and hand bags.
