Tullamore Dew 12. This is really nice, with a complex mix of caramel, malt, sweetness and smoke. I don't have a lot of experience with Irish whiskey. They had this open for tasting at a Binny's when I stopped in over the weekend, along with two other TD offerings and I ended up buying a bottle.

Me gustan Tullamore Dew y Tullamore Dew 12. Los dos estan consumidos frequentemente in nuestro hogar!

Not any Cuban rum.    I made a quick, impulsive run north a few days back to visit dear friends, and one of my goals was to find a good bottle of Cuban Rum to bring back with me.

After several fruitless trips to the  SAQ, there was only ONE bottling of Cuban rum on the shelves at the 3 stores we visited.

Is there an issue with Cuban rum availability in Canada recently?

Before heading out to dinner tonight, a few judicious ounces of Green Hat Gin over a big ice cube, by New Colombia Distillers here in the District.  Tasted this a while back at the Dupont Circle Farmers Market and liked it, so bought a couple of bottles.

Delicious, with lots of botanicals and juniper, with some citrus and a touch of cardamom.  If you live in the area, I highly recommend picking up a bottle. Seriously good stuff.  Not a mixing liquor, best enjoyed without distraction.

I quit drinking gin many years ago after a potentially disastrous night involving a young brunette and a Kawasaki.  I've tried to be more moderate with my gin consumption since resuming the relationship with this liquor.  Tonight was no exception.
