I take it you ordered a double VinT.

Glenfiddich 18. This is one 18 that is infinitely better than the 12.
Imho every single Malt but the Glenfiddich 12 is better than the Glenfiddich 12![]()
Agreed. The 12 is boring. I only bought the 18 because it was on sale.

Good timing Bill. I don't have a lot of experience with bourbon, but last night I had some Knob Creek, Single Barrel Reserve (9 Yr). I like it. Good burn.
I'm enjoying bourbon more than I thought I would. Trying to see if I can find a pour or flight of Pappy so I can be disappointed by expectations.

Nice! No way were you disappointed. SD-Wineaux poured some Pappy at his bday, and it was amazing.
Can you pick out some of your favorites during your trip? Eagle Rare 10 year is my bourbon of choice, but I'm currently finishing a bottle of Rowan's Creek, and I just picked up a bottle of Old Bardstown Estate.

The Pappy was one of the few times that a beverage experience easily outweighed my expectation. Absolutely fantastic and maybe my favorite alcohol experience to date.
Of the visits we made, Maker's Mark might have been our favorite for the combination of tour quality, setting and tasting lineup.

Did you do the bourbon trail? We were out in Elizabethtown for a wedding and ran up to the Beam distillery. Tour was informative, but man, maybe its our background with wineries, but the whole two "one ounce tastes" sure puts a damper on getting to try a whole lot. I'd rather post up at a bar and try a bunch rather than drive 30 minutes between distilleries.
We just decided to take a weekend in the area. My wife found out about a dinner theater event that was taking place at Buffalo Trace. It included a tour beforehand, bourbon cocktail, the play, and a three course dinner with some bourbons for $60 all-in. Good value and a fun time. We didn't keep a passport and get it stamped. However, we also fit in visits at Four Roses, Wild Turkey, Maker's and the Evan Williams Experience in downtown Louisville. At the latter, the "speakeasy tasting" was fun. Like you mentioned, I also ordered pours on my own at a couple of local bars that had nice selections. The Pappy was available at a nice restaurant called Bourbon's Bistro in Louisville.
Side note - just about everyone we came across in the area was extremely polite, friendly and fun. We had a very enjoyable weekend all around. Louisville Slugger factory tour was cool. I would definitely visit the area again without hesitation. It is an easy six hour drive from where we live.

Zacapa 23. Nice, but a bit too sweet for me to want to have it often.
Had couple of great cocktails at Raines Law Room in NYC last night.
Didn't catch the names just told the bartender that I wanted one gin drink and one bourbon drink and to go crazy. Both were stellar.
Raines is a great spot and a great way to cap off a terrific weekend in NYC.

Never had it before. I have to say pretty good for after dinner dessert drink. Lots of caramel, praline, and hits of orange. I'd buy a bottle.

Guatemala Zacapa 23 Solera vs Jamaica 1999 Plantation single cask Port cask finish.
Zacapa being the smoother Rum, the overall victory goes to Jamaica, nevertheless. 2x abolutely recommended stuff, Zacapa more crowd-pleasing, plantation with the very slightly more intense aromatics.
