And how do you feel this fine morning?
Excellente
Did a blind tasting of some mid-range (for whatever that means) bourbons and tasted:
Basil Hayden (consensus least favorite)
Weller Special Reserve (2nd but nose to nose with the Four Roses)
Four Roses Small Batch Select--fairly new bottling from Four Roses, different from their regular Small Batch (1st)
Old Forester Prohibition Style 1920. (3rd)
Finished it off with the Weller 12 year. I'm a huge fan of the 12 year, but the Four Roses Small Batch Select isn't too far behind and at 115$+ cheaper (depending on how much you can get the 12 year for), it's quite a nice surprise.
Riazul Anejo tequila.
Bulleit Bourbon on rocks. Sanitizes right?

Good thing people haven't raided the liquor stores
Five Farms Single Batch Irish Cream from County Cork.
You will never drink bailey's again. Great bottle too.

So much Blanton's.

I can never find Blanton’s anymore. It was featured in John Wick and now everyone knows about it. Always been my favorite Bourbon.
Killing two birds with a nice pour of Redbreast 12 Cask Strength tonight. One is to celebrate St. Patty's Day, and the other is to ensure a thorough disinfection of my digestive track. Such a lovely dram to remind one there is still plenty of good in the world.

Winetarelli, if you have trouble getting Blanton's, you can can also look for Rock Hill Farms or Hancock's Reserve, with both also being from Buffalo Trace and sharing the same Mashbill #2. Rock Hill Farms has higher proof at 100, Hancock's Reserve is lower than Blanton's 93 at 88. Higher proof equals bigger flavor and longer finish, so recommend the higher one. Not as many know the connection, but still hard to come by.

Noble sentiment. Problem is RHF is a once in a blue moon sighting in retail stores in many areas of the country, per a thread on a bourbon aficionado message forum I frequent. I’ve only seen it at a “honey hole” dive bar I got to a couple times a month.
HR is a bit easier to find, but it’s typically priced at or close to Blanton’s MSRP. I’ve yet to take the plunge, based on multiple sentiment that B is better than HR.
I stocked up pretty well on B when it was in the mid $30 range. Crazy to look at bottles of bourbon like shares of stock.......

Used to be readily available here, but now it comes out about once a year. Still a good price at $65 CAD, but I suspect that will go up in the near future. I grabbed 18 bottles since who knows when it's coming back and, when it does, what the price will be.

The best price I have seen for Blanton's is $60 US. $65 Cdn would be a very good deal.

Suspect that won’t be the case much longer. The monopoly buys stuff well in advance. With the sun-70 cent loonie I envision $100 and up.
I was at the Blanton's bottling line at Buffalo Trace a few months ago. Every single bottle that comes off the line is wax dipped and cleaned up by hand, by about a dozen specially trained employees. Then packed by hand. No samples of that one, though.
Michter’s 10 year. A great pour.
Don Papa Rum on the rocks. I think I like it better neat and at cellar temperature.

Indeed, that is an all star lineup of bourbon (and one whiskey). Nicely done!
The EC23 was the 2016 release and was the clear winner. If you are a fan of wheated bourbon the the 1792 is an excellent pour. The Stagg Jr. was from Batch 12 and was the beat Jr. I’ve tasted.

A Manhattan using newly acquired 1.75 L Woodford Reserve bourbon. Thanks Costco!

My all-time go-to. Still brilliant. And while its price has increased, it still punches above its price category, to me.
