You didn't break any more hand bones, did you? Eek

No but crappy internal politics day at work and after a ho-hum bourbon looked in my liquor cabinet and asked myself "why do I never drink my good stuff?". So it was that or a 1986 Talisker distillers edition.
Last night I enjoyed for the first time, a recent creation of yours truly! My most delightful "Gorgollasa Grappa Garrique", which I pot distilled from the pomace of my outrageous Gorgollasa harvest of 2013, aged in French oak for 2 years before bottling. This small lot will be cherished for years to come by friends and family. A single case will go to my favourite bottle shop via my distributor, absolutely! I trust you will seek this fine distillate and enjoy after your finest meals with loved ones, positively!

Cheers!

Cracked open some Breckenridge bourbon with my niece's husband on Easter Sunday and it was pretty dang nice.

+1. I slip that one in on occasion when someone shows interest and it usually is received quite well.

Breckenridge and Harrison are my two favorite 'mid size distiller' bourbons. Witherspoon out of Texas is also very good but I think I'd call that small not mid sized.
After seeing the recent recs for Breckenridge Bourbon, I went out and got some. Was a little leery as it is aged less than 3 years, but the consensus here and among other reviewers is that it's good stuff. After tasting it I agree, and am particularly fond of the spiciness from its high rye mashbill. The profile immediately reminded me of Noah' s Mill, so I tried a side by side comparison and it was quite similar, but in a more intense, less soft way given it is 31 higher proof. If you like Breckenridge, I suggest you try the Noah's Mill if you want that high proof oompf factor as it sells within $5 of the Breckenridge.

William Larue Weller 2008 release
Eagle Rare 17 2008 release (best ER17 ever IMO)
Willett 21 year (don't remember the barrel no.)
Elijah Craig 23 year
Old Forester Birthday 2011

I remember the track was muddy Big Grin

Nice lineup. Smile

Appleton Estate 21 while sitting around the fire with my son Sunday night. I think we both prefer the Plantation XO, but this was a nice change.

I love the Appleton Estate 21. A friend and I did a side-by-side with the Havana Club 7. We were both amazed at how very different the two rums were. Both were excellent, but miles apart in style.
