Auchentoshan 3 wood
At the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, a 26 year old from Glen Moray. Very nice.
4 roses bourbon (with root beer and blackstrap bitters).

Probably the best grappa I've ever had after a great meal last night, and of course I forgot to grab the note with the name as we left the restaurant. I was going to call and inquire, but figure it's a good excuse to go back for another glass...

Turned out to be tasting only. I probably should have bought also.
Take the ride in the keg?
Green Spot Irish Whiskey
Ledaig 10 year.
Too hot for wine. Lots of Tanqueray gin.

What do you think? Tobermory/Ledaig is said to use peated water, dont know if it's an urban legend. Tobermory seems peaty, allthough they clearly dont use peated malt. Ledaig of course, uses peated malt.

Ok, was it the 1700£ 30yr bottling, or the 4000£ single cask ?

I tried an Evan Williams 1783 last night. While not quite on a par with Maker's Mark or Woodford's Reserve, I was very surprised at how drinkable it was for a $13 bourbon. Something I could easily use in recipes when I don't want to break out the good stuff.
Don Julio Anejo this afternoon while hiding out from the baby shower going on upstairs. I'm going to need some food pretty soon.

I'm still holding (unopened) two private bottlings I brought back from The Whiskey Castle in Tomintoul in the Highlands of Scotland in 2008. I'm waiting until my palate is experienced enough for them. Anybody ever try any of the Provenance bottlings? Opinions?

Rosebank 1991 (13yr), Signatory Vintage
Some ricard as an aperitif tonight. I should have this more often.
Noah's Mill bourbon. I really enjoyed the spicy finish.
The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 year old
Fruity, pretty smooth. Nice lingering finish.
Pretty decent, although I prefer my scotch to be more smokey.

I won a bet at work, and the payoff (as always) was a bottle of intoxicating spirits to be determined by the loser, not to exceed $40. The spoils this time were Pig's Nose blended Scotch whisky.
Just had a small pour with a splash of water. It's fine. A little muddy on the finish.
But the fact that a work colleague had to buy it for me makes it taste all the more sweeter.

Number Juan Extra Anejo. IMHO the best tequila under $100 anywhere. This is aged a true 5 years. Not in too many states yet, but do yourself a favor and try it, if you find it. $60 in my neck of the woods. Non tequila drinkers even enjoy this.

Glenmorangie 12yr Quinta Ruban (Port Casks) &
Glenmorangie 12yr Nectar D'or (Sauternes Barrel)
Different but a lot of fun to drink. Supposedly the Nectar is finished in d'Yquem barrels.
