Strathisla 1987/2005, Signatory Un-Chillfiltered Collection.
Not quite a Balvenie 21, but very aromatic and balanced nevertheless. Clearly the best example of Signatory's series i've had so far.

I missed the announcement of the sale for Dry Fly Bourbon this week. There were only 124 bottles available for sale at one state liquor store, and people were lined up the night before.
This is the first batch of the first bourbon made in WA state since Prohibition. If anyone has tried it, I'd like to know what your impression was.
Managed to find a bottle at last, halfway across the country. I have some friends getting together in a couple weeks and will pop it then. Will let you know. I guess it will be 3 years until the next batch is sold.

Fly Fishers, taboot. I can respect that.
Scotch in a can?
Cognac Frapin 12yr cask strength, Grande Champagne
The first time i see a Cognac labeled "Cask Strengh", it surprises me a 12 year old Cognac has only 46%vol after 12 years of aging. Good stuff, a fresh and powerfull Cognac, yet balanced.

If you havent tried Hendricks Board O I would strongly recommend it! I also drink this "up" but chilled and open the bottle of vermouth in the other room and then quickly re-cap

I request no Vermouth, but I rarely drink hard liquor. I haven't tried Hendricks.

Just picked up a bottle of this on the recommendation of each of you. Excited to crack the bottle open this week.

While I still enjoy single malts, this is quickly becoming my "go to" whiskey.
The Redbreast was very nice, thanks for the recs.

I always love Port Ellen. This bottle is certainly very good but not as good as the annual Diaego bottles. the last one I had was the 9th release and that was something pretty special. 11th is a bit more expensive still (they skipped the 10th release in the US).
As for the Alligator, this must be my fav Ardbeg now. 10 YO is my go to drink but this is about double the cost and well worth it unfortunately. Very well made and well judged.
Has anyone had Bruichladdich's The Laddie 10?
I heard it was excellent, and I was just curious.
Other than that, I've been greatly enjoying High West's Son of Bourye and their 36th vote Barrelled Manhattan.

Thanks. I agree on the 10y, it's one of my favourite basic single-malts. Silly me passed the Alligator when i saw this at a local shop. I think that Ardbeg's special bottlings are well worth the price at some 60-80€, compared to other distilleries releases >150€.

What do you think of the long aging? Very complex or too much oak ?

Is that like "double casked"?
I have a bottle of Dalwhinnie Double Casked 1981 and 1990. The '81 is nearly gone, of course.

Hope someone else was buying! I had a couple fingers of Macallan 25 Sherry Oak late last year. Lovely stuff, but no QPR........ that's for sure.

I was buying including for a friend, but well worth the $$$ I thought.

Yeah... well if I had your money, I'd burn mine!

PH, the mind is the second thing to go.
I'm saddened to hear you have already lost the first to go, at such an early age.

Far from smooth Macallan 25 magic, some really wild stuff: Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength, 55.7% vol. Crazy.

Dalmore 18 after dinner last night with a few local forumites. The list said they had the 21 but they were out of it. To make up for that they only charged $12 each for very generous pours. Excellent.
