After a couple of days of much needed rain, today was beautiful so we went down to the beach and enjoyed some really tasty ceviche, salsa, gauc and fresh tortilla chips.

At Marea, their burrata with lobster and ravioli with sweetbreads and wild mushrooms were excellent.

DoubleD . . . was this auction day? How'd it go?

Cheeseburger from Prather Ranch meats at San Francisco ferry building farmer's market. . . about as good a Sat. lunch as can be had

Bagels, lox, whitefish, baked salmon, and accompaniments with family. No bagel for me

Yes, it was Saturday and Friday. It's a great way to spend a day drinking wine and enjoying some good food. Zachys does a great job with these events. Most of the prices (including their 22% buyer's premium) tend to be at or above retail. There may be a couple of deals, but you have to be really patient and be at your computer ready to pounce.

We are having the Rob Sutherland cassoulet we made yesterday.

My experience is that cassoulet are better the second day, so will try in about two hours.

Made lentil soup yesterday after seeing it on Lydia's Italy. No grilled cheese though. Probably a good combo.

Italian Beef sandwiches getting ready for the NFC North showdown with the Bears.

Lunch at Espetus (Brazilian BBQ) in San Francisco with my wife and sons. Pleasantly surprised when we arrived to learn this was the only day this year that they offered the dinner menu (16 choices of beef/lamb/pork/chicken brought to you and carved at your table) at lunch time. Glad I had brought a 2003 Pahlmeyer Proprietary red to enjoy with a steady procession of meats.

For lunch, discovered a great sushi place in Santa Monica called Sugarfish. Absolutely heavenly and meticulous preparation.

Pretending it was warmer than it is: Blackened Fish Tacos with a few pints.
