Yesterday's lunch at Stags' Leap Winery -

Watermelon, Frog Hollow Peaches, and roasted baby beets with Laura Chenel Goat Cheese and verjus vinaigrette. 2009 Stags' Leap Winery Chardonnay.

Rosemary and garlic marinated grilled flat iron steak, roasted portobello mushrooms with fig vincotto, grilled sockeye salmon with caper remoulade, smashed heirloom fingerling potatoes, with cured lemon, and haricot vert, wax beans, and sundrop tomatoes. 2008 Stags' Leap Winery Petite Sirah and 2008 Stags' Leap Winery Merlot.

And then a dessert with some berries and cream.

Yes - it was supposed to be the pizzeria and it was closed - either being remodeled or out of business and the place was totally cleaned out.

Peruvian place was good and yes we sort of stood out.
My wife and I went to our favorite sushi place in OC on Saturday for an early lunch before shopping. Bluefin tuna, toro, yellowtail, young yellowtail, snapper, scallop, salmon, eel and some of the best Santa Barbara sea urchin I have ever had. We also had a really fresh raw shrimp which I’m not crazy about for some reason, but the best part is he tempura fry’s the head of the shrimp so you don’t waste anything. I usually eat the eyes first because they taste the best and then devour the whole head. Yum.
Does brunch count?
Put my folks on a cruise ship to Alaska today at pier 91, so I took my daughter to nearby Palisades.
I had the Dungeness crab cake Benedict. Huge crab cake on a bed of sauteed spinach and a thick croissant, topped with 2 basted eggs and Hollandaise. It came with a broiled tomato filled with salmon mousse, and fingerling potatoes. I think my daughter ate half her weight in crab legs. Wink

It's been a few years since i've been there, but the meals were great and the view, even better.

Yeah, my only regret was that we had to leave before the cruise ship set sail. That would have been great to watch and toast them in style.
Went to a new restaurant with a colleague near my office. He had pho, while I had a hot and sour soup with catfish, okra, tomato, pineapple, lemongrass, red pepper, jalapeño, cilantro and Thai basil. We shared a garlic, mushroom and onion filet mignon with black pepper served on a bed of greens. The soup I had was simply out of this world... Just delicious. And the filet was very good too... And all for $12. Could come back here every day.
