My wife’s sister is in town and wanted to do a brewer tour so we went out to Chiswick to Fullers brewery. The tour was boring but it gave us a good excuse to have lunch at a restaurant that I have wanted to try in Chiswick, La Trompette.

We started with a half bottle of 2000 Puligny-Montrachet Clavoillons from Domaine Leflaive. The wine was excellent and held up to my ravioli of middlewhite pork with a sweetcorn puree and spring cabbage.

Next a bottle of 1998 Flaccianello that was also excellent and a great pair with slow cooked veal with risotto alla Milanese, roasted carrots and topped with a gremolata.

Dessert was panna cotta with rhubarb compote and vanilla sugar beignets. Very good.

If you are in Chiswick, this is a must visit and the best value I have found near London. 3 courses for under 25 GBP’s a head. Wine prices are not bad either.
