My wife’s sister is in town and wanted to do a brewer tour so we went out to Chiswick to Fullers brewery. The tour was boring but it gave us a good excuse to have lunch at a restaurant that I have wanted to try in Chiswick, La Trompette.

We started with a half bottle of 2000 Puligny-Montrachet Clavoillons from Domaine Leflaive. The wine was excellent and held up to my ravioli of middlewhite pork with a sweetcorn puree and spring cabbage.

Next a bottle of 1998 Flaccianello that was also excellent and a great pair with slow cooked veal with risotto alla Milanese, roasted carrots and topped with a gremolata.

Dessert was panna cotta with rhubarb compote and vanilla sugar beignets. Very good.

If you are in Chiswick, this is a must visit and the best value I have found near London. 3 courses for under 25 GBP’s a head. Wine prices are not bad either.
While GlennK eats better at lunch than I do for dinner, I did have a nice lunch today with friends.

Simple Australian lobster with 2006 Domaine Raveneau Montee de Tonnerre Chablis.

Lobster for lunch twice this month, w+a. Livin' large!!!!

Funny, but I'm not really all that big of a fan of lobster per se, but I do enjoy one from time to time, and often with nothing else with it but a glass of wine.
I was just advised we will be enjoying a lunch of many different types shellfish.

I'm off to pull a Chablis and an Albarino from Rias Baixas.

Ended up pulling a Joly in lieu of the Albarino.

I'm in the mood for grilled lobster tails and Montrachet today for lunch. Cool

Good man. Yesterday I thought I had the rest of the week off by default, two hours later my calendar for today was full.
