Well, Mary died 2 years ago. We saw them at Wolf Trap on 4th of July weekend years ago. Good times.

For most well known bands, there has always been more money in touring than in cd/tape/album sales. My guess is that these older bands are 1) bored and 2) like everyone, needing just a little more cash.

Thoroughly enjoyed U2 in Chicago this week. They had some interesting additions from the 2009 version of the 360 Tour we caught in Dallas, like Gabby Gifford's husband introducing Beautiful Day from space. As always with them, amazing show that brought down the house. We were sitting in the first section off the ground and literally felt the stadium move with the crowd during Elevation - my wife looked at me and asked if I thought the structure was strong enough for it!

Okay. Saw Michael Buble last night. 320 or so people. Intimate, great setting - the lawn in front of the Rhine House at Beringer. Nice, decent, whatever. I don't get all the Buble love. Confused

HOWEVER!!!!!!!!! The opening act was a group called "Naturally 7". Awesome! They are basically an a capella act, except the members "play" musical instruments with their voices. Simply fantastic. If you ever have the opportunity to see them, GO!!!

I had just the reverse reaction when I saw the two of them here. Naturally 7 reminded me of one of those "America's Got Talent" acts. Couldn't wait for them to get off the stage.
First time I saw Buble, he had Jann Arden as his opener. Enjoyed her much more.

Well then we kind of had the same reaction. Both of us enjoyed the opening act more than Buble!

We went to see Styx & Yes at Verizon Wireless on the 24th. It was a last minute decision. I've been a Yes fan for 30+ years and seen them many times, but wasn't sure I was up for it.

Partly, I'm not as into spending $100+ on tickets to aging rocker shows. I've enoyed seeing Bruce Hornsby and Elvis Costello, recently, both for less than $50 per ticket, at the Pageant, a more intimate venue.

But, in the end, scored some super cheap 4th row tics on StubHub, and went. I thought Yes was good, agree missing Jon Anderson. Glad Yes was the lead band, as Styx played with lots more energy. They would have been a hard act to follow.

Styx played first at Maryhill. Thus, Yes' lack of energy was even more pronounced. Sadly, about 1/3 of the crowd had left before Yes even finished their set.

BTW -- I've seen Hornsby the last two times that he has been at the Pageant. What a great venue.

Adam10, the highlights were the first part of the show with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra before he came out to sing/chant/groan over their playing. Half of our group hated his voice, a couple that were with us love him. He definitely has his fans, though. The highlight of Ravinia is that you can bring your own food and beverages to picnic on the lawn with live music in the background. We have a decent number of free passes and this show took place on an evening with perfect weather, so we went.

I actually have liked them for a while after hearing their first album. The original drummer's mom was the admin for a friend and he turned me on to them. Never seen them live - glad to hear they put on a good show.

Was that at the Jazz Alley? That's a fantastic venue.

For me Train on the beach at Mandalay Bay. Better than I was expecting and for you single guys out there Rock and Roll wine is a 'target rich environment'. Justy saying.
