Over the holidays- Paul Winter's Winter Solstice Concert at Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC. Great acoustics.

Caught Joe Satriani on January 20th at the House of Blues here in Houston. Fantastic two hour show, with a great backing band. Catch him if you get a chance.

If you're a fan of Satriani I would also strongly recommend his new album (Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards). Great songs showcasing Satch's chops.

For those interested in metal, dates are to be announced tomorrow for the U.S. leg of the "Big Four" tour. Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax on the same bill.

Friday I saw an ad for a Natalie Cole concert in our local paper. Love her vocals. Unfortunately, she is playing in podunk Spokane on 2/13, a Sunday night. That is a good 5 hour drive in the best of weather.
Across snowy mountain passes? Just a damn shame.
I hope she gets a venue here sometime soon.

An acoustic evening with Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt. Quite a far cry from the usual Lyle Lovet large band...nothing but 2 talented guys, their acoustic guitars, and a harp. A very nice evening!

I caught Robin Trower last Friday in Houston and boy was he impressive. Even in his late 60's that guy can still play the blues. Great show and a very nice guy.

Ordered tickets today for Rise Against headlining with Bad Religion as the opener. I've seen both of them multiple times, so I'm excited about both of them on the same bill.

Does Sesame Street, Elmo's Green Thumb count as a concert? If so then my little guy saw his first one at MSG today.

I forget where it was, but I actually had to explain to someone why a CUBS / BLACKHAWKS fan would not like the Redwings and/or the Mets. Silly people that don't understand sports.

As it is at this moment, I've got to DVR the BLACKHAWKS so my wife can watch some stupid show (the other TV is out). She's playing the value of the "Steak & BJ Day" against me watching the last period of the game.

The opening act was great....The Grogs.

Recently saw 3 Doors Down and 5 other bands. This coming weekend is Iron Maiden back to back in Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa Saturday and Sunday.

Attended a weekend for the band Marillion on Montreal. Three shows over three nights. Utter magic!

Yeah - gotta love Flogging Molly. They come through Austin once a year to a great outdoor venue so we've caught them several times as well. One of my favorite bands.

So I'm all excited about Kings of Leon tonight, right? The wife and I work in the same location and we agreed it best to lock our computers in my office rather than leave them in the back of the car in a parking garage downtown all night. We get all the way to the venue and as we are parking I scream "OH S***!" the tickets are in my laptop bag safely in my office 20 miles away. By the time we would've gotten back there in traffic, then back downtown in traffic - no way. We grabbed dinner with a nice 07 Phelps Cab and came on home.

If you saw or will see Kings of Leon on this tour, and it was good, please don't post about it!

LOL! When I am heading to a sporting event or concert, I'm paranoid about forgetting tickets, especially since I'm way west of Chicago proper. The neighbors probably think I have some kind of OCD watching me open my wallet and pat down my pockets about 15 times.

Sorry you missed the show, but at least you still had a date night!
