Interesting. I had to look them up. I'm giving Counter Culture out of NC a try right now. Similar roasted to order type of operation.

Give them a try, snipes.

On a side note, I love Athens... A mini Austin.
Intelligentsia House Blend from my new Chemex.

Chemex is basically a cumbersome pour over technique, but the results are tough to argue with- characteristics of the coffee shine and bitterness removed as advertised (a result of the Chemex filters).

The process is kind of cool too if you're a huge coffee nerd, especially the bloom.

Highly recommended for those with a little patience- think of this as your weekend coffee maker when you have a bit of extra time to brew.

Glenn,
I finally got around to looking up the difference. I'm curious how often you order it this way and how often does it come out differently than a latte? I'm tempted to give it a go next time I order out.

Never knew it had a name, but that's how I like my coffee the best.
I usually have one of those as my second cup of the morning. Triple shot latte is first, need some volume to last me the trip into work in the traffic!
There's a local shop that pulls really nice shots and he makes me one that resembles this description I'll ask him.

There are only 2 places around me that I know of that do it right. I don't think you would have much luck at a Starbucks. If you have a real hardcore coffee bar near you that would be your best bet.

I'm not sure what that means?

I did not know the origin of the flat white until I read about it in a Starbucks years ago.
I've tried to get a flat white at Starbucks multiple times. Half the time they don't know what I'm talking about and the other half they pretend to know and a latte shows up. I gave up after a while, not to mention there a better options around me than Starbucks now.
