Ahh..someone else that uses Aperol. My goto drink as of late is:

1 shot Gin
1/2 shot Aperol
splash of simple syrup
Tonic

When I get in a real football mood, I'll make the next drink and substitute Blue Curacao for the Aperol (and elminate the simple syrup). That gives me my orange and blue drinks

Made this over the weekend. I liked it a bit better after cutting back on the lime juice a bit. A great rum drink.

wel it's a non fizzy dark and stormy =)

Or like a gingery Daiquiri Smile

was at a chain resto and asked for a classic daiquiri.

it came back frozen with a lime wedge and an umbrella.

Last night made a few of these...delish:

Jungle Bird

1.5 oz Cruzan Black Strap rum
1.5 oz Pineapple juice
0.75 oz Campari
0.5 oz Lime juice
0.5 oz Simple syrup

Shake and strain into a iced filled Old Fashioned glass.

- EDIT -

Just adding that this drink must be made with black strap rum, not a dark rum (like Golsings). It will not taste the same.

you can acutally swap out the simple sugar and blackstrap and put in regular dark rum with 1/2 pour of molasses

Hey nice...will try this when I don't have any blackstrap rum on hand.

if you dont shake the mix with molasses, you can float the molasses on top after making the drink.

it adds a nice presentation but remember to stir when you drink
- EDIT - fixed wrong proportions

Girly drinks for the the female guests last night:

Absolutely F**king Fabulous (AFF for short)

4 parts Cranberry juice
2 parts Vodka
1 part Peach schnapps
1 part Chambord

Shake and strain into a cocktail glass. You can also make it a long drink. It's basically a variation of the Woo-Woo aka the panty remover Big Grin

I was looking at those the other day. Have you tried the tonic? The extra-bitter tonic sounds interesting.

I saw that also, in a tiny, local, boutique wine shop near me. But as I already had an armload of wine, I just went with the cherries. Perhaps next time.

2 parts white rum
3/4 part fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 part Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur <- can be substitued out with more rum in true hemingway style, or can be swapped with any of the sweet liqours like curacao or triple sec
Garnish with a grapefruit twist

I've seen this done two ways. One grapefruit forward, the other lime forward:

2 parts white rum
3/4 part fresh lime juice
1/2 part fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 part Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur

2 parts white rum
3/4 part fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 part fresh lime juice
1/4 part Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
1/4 part simple syrup

May have to do a side by side tasting to figure out the champ Smile

yea i find if you use fresh grapefruit you dont need really to waste adding extra lime for sourness.

I forgot to add rubbing the grapefruit rind around the rim of the glass adds a very nice complexity.

sides lime heavy just means it's a classic daiquiri =)
