Jack Rose

2 oz Laird's Apple Brandy BnB (100 proof)
1 oz lemon juice
0.5 oz homemade grenadine

Shake and strain into cocktail glass.
Made a nice Moscow Mule on Saturday (of course, in the copper cup!) with about 1 1/2 limes, Tito's Vodka and Fever Tree ginger beer. Very tasty.

Made a batch over the Easter weekend for my mom who had never had one. She enjoyed, so looks like I'll be making more next time we gather.

Two of my favorites. However, since I'm killing this bottle, tonight is a Woodinville Whiskey Co. Manhattan with Cocchi sweet vermouth.

(I think the bourbon faeries payed me a little visit. I could've sworn the bottle was 2/3 full. Now I see it's only about 1/8th. WTF? I know I didn't drink that much.) Confused

Very nice. I also recommend trying the Employees Only Manhattan (I've posted the recipe). It's now my favorite Manhattan recipe.

What's your recipe PH?

Sorry, must have missed this.

750 ml. good blanco tequila
250 ml. Cointreau
200 ml. fresh squeezed lime juice

You can up the lime juice if you prefer a little more tang. Freezer, not fridge in a covered pitcher. I've found no degradation in the flavors over time. Quite the opposite. After an overnight in the freezer the flavors seem to meld much better than when first mixed.

If you want to try something cool, pour a half an inch or so of the margarita in a wide bottomed glass and leave it in the freezer until it forms shale like layers of ice. It never completely freezes but makes a slushy consistency that is a lot of fun. Just take a tablespoon and slurp up a mouthful of this mix. Texture/flavor is pretty cool.

PH
Whiskey Sour with egg white. Smoother and creamier than without the egg white. Mix whiskey, lemon juice, simple syrup and part of egg white by using shaker. Then add ice and shake again.
Last night made an El Presidente. The key is to use fresh grenadine not the bottled corn syrup crap:

1.5 oz Bacardi 8 rum
.75 oz Dolin Blanc vermouth
.25 oz Grand Marnier
.5 tsp Homemade grenadine

Shake and serve in a martini glass
Col. Taylor Small Batch Manhattan, I enjoy the small batch over the single barrel. Will have a Hirsch Manhattan as well since it's half-price night at the local blues night.

I worked for a summer for a Portuguese wine importer (Luso Imports) and one of the things I loved to drink with my leftover samples was dried white port, tonic and lime over ice.

I'm guessing you've experimented extensively with port (at least, much more than most of us)...but for me that was very refreshing and low enough in booze that I could have a few before dinner and fly right through Smile

Also: http://www.foodandwine.com/fwx...ils-last-gasp-summer
white port, tequila, <insert fruit juice>, squeeze slice of lime and garnish.

gauranteed to get many people messed up

Here are a few fun cocktails:

Kingston Colada
1.5 oz coconut water
1.5 oz aged amber rum
1.5 oz pineapple juice
3 dashes Angostura bitters

Add all and stir in an iced filled Old Fashioned glass

Goombay Smash
1 oz dark rum like Gosling's
1 oz coconut rum
0.5 oz apricot brandy
2 oz pineapple juice
2 oz OJ

Shake and strain into a ice filled Collins glass

But if you really want fun, you can always make a Woo-Woo aka the panty remover Wink
4 parts cranberry juice
2 parts vodka
1 part peach schnapps

You can either shake and strain into a cocktail glass or make it a long drink with ice in a Collins glass.

good stuff!!

Nice...like all Caribbean drinks, the recipe is not hard and fast. I've also seen it made with Kraken spiced rum instead of Goslings.

Hey, that's pretty good. Not as sweet as a pina colada but has some of the flavors.
Just got all the ingredients to make the infamous Casa Fuente mojito. It's supposed to be a perfect 75* tomorrow evening(Cinco de Mayo)so we will be sitting on the deck with some friends.

Great cocktail. This and their version of the Manhattan are my favorites cocktails at Employees Only.

Btw noticed you used hot sauce & bitters instead of Bitterman's Hellfire bitters. Does it taste the same, or do you prefer it this way?

What exactly is in a Casa Fuente mojito?

I don't see hellfire bitters up here. I also like the extra smoke from the Chipoltle. The recipe I use above also has an extra .25oz of pineapple more than the original.

Pineapple, Mezcal and pink peppercorns are a match made in heaven.

Other great summer cocktail is a Rye Guava Smash

4-6 mint leaves
Healthy sprinkle of raw/demera sugar
Large lime wedge

Muddle the above together

2 oz Rye
1.5oz Guava juice

And you can always do up a big thing of Grog but you will get messy...
2 parts Navy strength Rum
2 parts Dark rum
1 part Pineapple Juice
1 part Orange Juice
1 part Guava Juice
1 part Lime Juice

Nice...I'm going to try this way next time I buy Mezcal Smile
Tinto de Verano...I forgot how refreshing this drink is on a hot day. Equal parts red wine and sprite.
Employees Only Manhattan

XYZ

1.5 oz light rum (made mine with 2)
0.75 oz Grand Marnier
0.75 oz lemon juice (better at 0.5 oz)

Quite refreshing while still retaining an interesting profile.

Nice!
It's funny that when I'm in Mexico, I almost always have to explain to the bartender what a Bloody Maria is.

FKG also - at one of our favorite brunch spots which has unlimited bloody marys - she gets Bloody Marias from one of the bartenders - mentioned in her blog you can do that and she had to remove it as apparently that is only available for her. Big Grin
