Francesco?
I've never met him but certainly would be a great guy to know. My mechanic is going to be in charge of their classics department (I think they are the only dealer in the GTA with one). He used to be a race mechanic for the factory at Le Mans etc. Kind of annoying as it makes servicing my car more expensive now with dealer rates!

I didn't know you were a Porsche guy! If you still have it, Jay Lloyds my mechanic is quite simply the best old turbo guy in the country. He's also fluent in Chinese (lived & married in HK for about 20 yrs). He will be going to the Oakville dealer but would still try to talk you into one of his 600bhp engines...

Sold my 930 long time ago. It was a nice euro-spec direct import from Italy. I now have a 997.1 in Cobalt blue.
.....Although I'm still searching for a 6-spd 997 Yellow Targa with no luck, it's been 2 years now

I wish I owned Tesla stock over the past year. It is up 350% this year and the company is now valued at $20 billion.
I would short tesla... It is a hype stock right now. I only gave people two stock tips this year: 1) buy Netflix at $60 and two weeks ago I said buy American Airlines at $2.60... Up 11% today alone to $3.40
hows that TSLA short working for you?

Bought the Model S and could not be happier. Best car ever and I love it... Still hate the financials!

BMW 4-series gran coupe coming in about 6 weeks as is the Porsche Macan. Neither unfortunately comes with a manual transmission but there is hope that European delivery of the BMW can get you the manual
Looking forward to test driving both of these smaller vehicles

Unfortunately, it's a one or the other choice. The shortlist for now is:
BMW 535xi
BMX 435xi gran coupe
Porsche Macan
Maserati Ghibli
Audi S6 (maybe S7 but I'm not totally sold on the body style quite yet. I like it sometimes and othertimes just don't)
I drive cars into the ground and have never had to pay a lot of maintenance costs ... worried this may rule the Maserati out

All the Germans will require fairly expensive maintenance / fixing small - moderate sized problems relative to Japanese cars, but they should also all provide hundreds of thousands of miles of fun if well cared for. I would get an extended warranty just due to the price of small things on German cars (eg. new fuel pump? $2k) but I wouldn't worry about their durability. I would, however, worry about the Maserati under high milage / hard driving, as well. Maserati is claiming this will be a daily-driver that can handle high milage with ease -- but there is no data yet confirming this claim and lots of counter data points.
I gave the Maserati a good going over last week and my verdict is stay away unless you are doing short term leasing and have no children. It's a flimsy car and as pretty as it is, I wouldn't do it, I have the feeling they will (very unfortunately) be yet another in the string of Maser lemons that fall apart.
The Macan is a Q5 but the rear is smaller. I have a 3.5 year old and he would be claustrophobic in the back. Still Porsche will sell a lot of them and again, no kids, want to sit high and need/want a small SUV, it suits well.
If you want something small and fun what about a GLA45 or CLA45?

Parcival- get the model S. Seriously, you will love it. Maintenance is practically non-existent, plenty of room with front and rear trunks, and just an incredible drive. Next time you are out in SF, you can take mine for a nice drive up to napa, and you will be hooked.
Next time I'm in SF can I take it up to Napa?
I agree though Parcival, you should give that one a look as well.

Rob- it goes without saying. Having a racecar enthusiast like you behind the wheel would be a pleasure.

Should probably rule the Audi out too....
Oh! Pick me! Pick me!
My car has 101hp and a "Sport" mode!

Bentley's manual for your car, 100$
tools to swap out a fuel pump 50$
bmw fuel pump 130$
porsche fuel pump 250$
rubber rings, seals - 20$
total time spent 2 hrs.
-You are getting ripped off it it's anywhere near 2k$
the bmw's are a bit easier to get around the hood than the vw/audi's. vw/audis pack the parts so close together you can tack on another 2 hrs to do any sort of work. things like hoses/belts are a huge pain on the vw/audis
I'm really digging the Audi Allroad, but a part of me can't pull the trigger on a station wagon until we have kids.
