Board-o I just want to apologize as I’ve obviously hurt your feelings. This all started by you mentioning that you were looking at a GT-R to replace your CTS-V with and I recommended a used Bentley Continental. While you derided my suggestion I will admit that my response to that was flippant and evidently served to discomfit you to a degree. I stand by my feelings on the car and the veracity of my reasons to not buy one but I am sorry that I hurt your feelings or caused any abashment.
You posted nothing of relevance other than your opinions in an attempt to rain on my parade. I think everybody could pretty much see through you.
And if you believe you hurt my feelings, you're delusional or stupid. In order to hurt my feelings, I'd have to care about your opinion.

Also in the interest of full disclosure my daily driver is a 2003 BMW that is currently in the process of shedding its headliner in the interior. My other three cars do not currently run at the moment. My dispensing of automotive advice is akin to Mick Jagger administering a class on abstinence.

Pretty much exactly! Although to get up the mountain, you will need to charge beforehand. Luckily, they did put a supercharger about a mile from our Tahoe cabin. On the way down, you can easily get 300 miles on one charge.
Questions for you both:
As I was interested in the X as an SUV, I'm now tempted more for the S as it's more proven and I think those gull-wing doors will be a issue here in the winters.
Also, I've being driving 4X4 pickups for the past 25 years and my wife has had Volvo XC70's for the same time....
(Had a Hybrid GMC for a few years... Not yet worth it, IMO)
Would the air suspension be a good option as I have about 4km of gravel road to get to our cottage? And let's not forget our famous potholes here....
What are your thoughts about overall winter handling ?
Do you guys get or have any "Range Anxiety"?
The console is cool, is the display a distraction? Do you get used to it?
Any thought or comments would be appreciated, If I'm going to change, I really like the thought of zero emissions.
Thanks

Hi Vinaigre-
with that much gravel, the air suspension might be a good idea. it was one of the options i declined on both model S cars we have had, and i have never felt like i was missing anything, but i have only taken it on a gravel road of that length just once. as for overall winter handling, it has better grip and stability than our lexus LX470, and we have never had an issue with sliding in snow. it simply sticks to the road in all conditions, and when we come upon chain control, they wave us right through. as for range anxiety, there are so many superchargers in the bay area that it is truly one of the things i worry about least. i have taken it down to 0 miles once... in fact, i drove another 3 miles after it said 0, and while i wouldn't recommend it, it was nice to know i still had some extra juice in reserve. any other questions, just let me know.
Anyone put down a deposit on the new Tesla Model 3? The first mass market Tesla. They began accepting reservations today, but shipping may not start until 2019.
Placing my order tomorrow on the 3 once I see the release.
Seriously considering it. Im on solar in my house and it would be yet another pay off on that decision. Even if they go belly up in the next few years, Ive wasted more money on stupider things
order placed. beautiful car.
I'm in too.

At least you're consistent.

Tesla as an investment looks riskier than buying the car. Lots of hype in that price

I'm as constant as the north star.

Wow! A master of the obvious also. Truly impressive
Not sure what the downer part was there Old Man. I don't think there was anything in that article that was new news to any Tesla fan.quote:Originally posted by The Old Man:

Pics of the model 3 look pretty cool. I wonder what % of the orders are from the Bay area and LA/OC/SD. I would bet nearly half. It's pretty crazy the amount of Tesla's on the road around here.

For around three years we've seen them become a small, but very noticeable, minority. I just assumed it was like that all over the US.
