Parcival: what winter tires (or AT's) do you have on your 335? I bought mine with the Bridgestone Ponteza's (19" rim) but would like to get a dedicated winter tire (18" rim) for these cold months. Any advice would be great!
My car came with Michelin Pilot Sports in a summer only tread. I bought a set of the same tire in an all season tread. They work fine, considering it's a rear wheel drive, but they're only a 20,000 mile tire and at 13,000 miles they're not as good on snow as they were originally. Will chuck them and go back to the originals when I move to Florida.
It's a mandated law up here to have Winter specific tires between Dec 15 - March 15.
Makes a huge difference.

Looking at Equus or Genesis to replace 5281 Great features and costs less.

My understanding is a smaller rim (17 or 18") will be better for the winter as well (smaller rim, narrower tire = more weight on the ground and better grip). So I was thinking if I'm going to get a second set of tires just go all out and get smaller rims/winter tires. To concur with what KSC02 said, I noticed a huge difference on two rental cars in the last few years (Audi A5, BMW 528i) in driving from Frankfurt to Florence in the winter (those swiss mountain roads can be quite the challenge!).
Appreciate all the advice. All of my previous cars, other than the first car (1986 Chevy Nova!) I had when I was 16, have been some type of SUV:
Jeep Wrangler-->Jeep Cherokee-->Jeep Wrangler-->Jeep Wrangler-->Land Rover LR3-->BMWX5
So I'm getting used to winter driving in a car full-time again!

Sarbuze . . . just checked. 18" rims with all-season, run-flat Continental tires on them.
The run-flats are ok. When I got all new tires ~1 year ago (at 45k miles), I would have changed them out if I had room for a spare in my trunk. Their ride seems a little harsher than a non run-flat. That said, have had no problems in the 8 years I've had this car. These tires are great in the winter and offer great performance in non-winter months as well
Fyi don't know if they are all season but I just replaced the ruin flats on my 335 with Bridgestone drive guard tires. They were about $500 less for the set and last twice as long. Solved my biggest complaint (expensive tires that need frequent replacement)
i personally think run flats are the dumbest tires ever. you can't exactly put in a 10$ plug if u do get a flat and as mentinoed, terrible road feel.
tho there's this self sealing run flat that 's kinda cool

G-man . . . agree. That's the biggest problem with these. Once they go, there's no repairing them. And like Bomba said, these suckers are pricey

Do you keep a spare in your trunk then even though there's no dedicated space for a spare? Will need to check out this Bridgestone option when it's time for me to replace my current tires
I saw the new 2016 Mazda Miata at the Detroit Auto show this year and I think I might be in love. Can't wait until its released and I can test drive one. The new body style looks great and the initial press reviews are very positive. I'm looking forward to reaching my own verdict! I miss having a damn roadster!!

No spare. AAA if I have a problem and can't drive it. But with run flats that shouldn't happen. Paid $991 with Road hazard certificates for all 4 and includes 50 k mile warranty. That means it will be the next Guys problem lol

I used to have a 335xi and used all season up here in the Great White North. Now I have a Cayman and have to use true winter tires.
My thought would be that if you want winter tires...then get winter tires...and use summer tires in the summer.
All season are not optimal for any season

Good advice. Based on this, and other advice, I think I'm going to go with Dunlap snow tires and 18" rims, then put my 19" summer tires back on in April/May.
Just picked up our new Highlander. Love it! Smooth ride, great pick up and no more back aches from putting Little JD in his car seat.
Miss the stick though. I have no idea what to do with my right hand???

Too easy.
Congrats on finding a car you're so happy with.
Placed an order of the GLA45 AMG.....
Spent a good 10 hours at the Auto Show and couldn't understand the BMWs. 1 Series + 2" is 3 Series, another 2" is 4, etc....damn, I need a measuring tape....and damn, all the interiors look identical to me

i agree.... bmw has lost their way and become a joke with all of the different series. hard to take them serious anymore. they are a very distant 3rd in my opinion when compared to audi and mercedes.

Well, I'm not sure MB and Audi are really that different when it comes to the number of available models (esp. if you take into account the model proliferation they've already announced for the next several years...). When three brands are neck-in-neck for the global #1 position in the premium auto market, no one wants to leave a segment to the competition.

i agree, but where they are different, is that you can actually look at each MB and Audi and be able to tell what model it is without having to check the numbers and letters on the back.
