I heard that Anheiser Busch just bought them out.

Hope this isn't true. Mad

It is true, but the founder and CEO is staying on to run GI. They are expanding their brewing facility in it's current location. They already had a distribution partnership with AB. I'm not worried, at least not yet. AB will have nothing to do with the original GI brewpub.

IB, I'm in town this week ( fingers crossed) and look forward to trying the beers you so graciously gifted me with. Cool

If you are referring to Pere Jacques, I'm interested in your thoughts. IB had been beating the drum on this beer for a while and I finally tried it recently. It's now one of my faves.

Have always wanted to try this.
You should seek some out. It is a seasonal brew (February) so hopefully you'll still be able to find some. It is on my current list of favorites along with Bell's Hopslam, Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA, my old standby Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. The Celebration Ale is seasonal as well but I always make sure that I buy enough at release so that I can enjoy a bottle every now and then throughout the year.

Metropolitan Iron Works Alt, brewed in Chicago.

How is this? I've never had their beer before.

I liked it a lot. German style, light copper color and what I would call a moderately roasted malt flavor character. It seemed pretty light on hoppiness, and balanced overall.
Question for the gang - sort of "beer related" and we drank it last week so not too far off topic...

I'm not usually a cider fan but in Ireland we had Bulmers, which stateside is called Magners. I actually really enjoyed it but can't find it anywhere. I checked their website and it appears the only U.S. distributor is in Arizona and only sells to retailers. Any ideas??

Yeah - see what you started?!?!?

Split a bomber of it with 3 friends after brunch along with our weak attempt at cigar smoking. Needless to say, we enjoyed the beer more.

Big Grin
I actually sent a mixed four pack of Matilda and PJ to our friend in Dallas. Haven't heard a peep. But, he is used to having Westvleteren 12 on tap, a real Belgian I have yet to try.

Enjoyed six beers today at The Porterhouse, and their Plain Porter is easily one of the top five beers I have ever enjoyed.

Enjoyed their red ale as well. Have you tried the Bulmers? It probably wouldn't suit a lot of folks on the board but I'm curious if you have, and if you liked...
