St. Bernardus Abt 12, which was the (unofficial) winner of a recent March Madness-style Belgian taste-off at a LWS. Absolutely delicious,
IB, one of the finest beer pubs in America I have ever darken the door of is in Dallas, and they have this stellar beer on tap.
I'm a longtime fan of this beer.![]()
Must be amazing on tap.

Do you have a favorite Belgian? Or, depends on the mood/company?

If I had to pick, I would choose Westvleteren Extra 8, but like you said, it depends on a number of things.
Tonight, it'll be
Three Floyds Gumballhead, Robert the Bruce and Pride and Joy.

I tried to homebrew a gumball clone. A wheat beer with amarillo hops sounds about perfect for me. Wish I could try the real thing.

I'll ask the LWS about the WE8. It wasn't part of the taste off: http://tinyurl.com/4aa3zep
But, that necc. doesn't mean they don't carry it or can't get it.

GBH is pretty darn good. I do consider it overhyped, but still it's a good beer. The Three Floyds Brewery/Pub has great food, too.

New Belgium Ranger IPA. A bit plain-jane, and just a touch too bitter for my taste.
If you like IPA's you can't go wrong with Avery or Victory Hop Devil.
Tommyknocker Butt-Head
Spaten Optimator. Love this stuff.

IB, a very hard beer to find in the States. If you can find/buy this beer or the Westvleteren 12, buy without question. Since the bottles do not have labels, look for the color of the cap. ( blue & yellow)
If you do not like it, I will buy it all from you!

I'll ask the LWS tomorrow!
Be well.

Yep, the Hop Devil is awesome stuff. Been hearing about Avery lately, but haven't tried one yet. Thanks for the reminder!

Me too. Quite potent, though.

Good to hear. I thought about stopping by last Fall, but it didn't work out. I'll have to make sure to check it out sometime this year.
BTW...I'm one of the people that hypes up GBH. I love it!
Whole Hog Six Hop IPA
Would never have guessed it was an IPA from the look and taste. Quite dark. Hops take a back seat to the malt here, with a noticeable chocolate streak. Will seek some more out in my area. Good food beer.

Founders canadian breakfast stout
What does that taste like? Maple syrup and back bacon?
Hope you're doing well Scub.
Steve-It does have a maple syrup element as it is aged in bourbon barrels and barrels that held maple syrup...sadly no bacon...
For another breakfast beer, try Terrapin Brewery's Wake n Bake which is a coffee stout.
Terrapin is an awesome brewery run by great ppl in a great town.

Called the LWS, and this is the one Trappist that they do not carry, and according to the clerk I talked with (knew the beer immediately through my horrible pronunciation), it's not distributed in Indiana.

The Best beer in Moldova is "Bere Chisinau" , a product of Efes Pilsner
Bad Elmer's Porter by Upland.
todays beer for beasts event. yeah, you all *WISH* you were me!

This is an awesome barrel-aged beer. We ordered one off the bottle list at a local brewpub this week.

Repeat after me: Pere Jacques, Pere Jacques, Pere Jacques. Matilda if they're out.

I've yet to have a Pere Jacques or Pape Nero. I'll try and get my fake Belgian on!

I'm not a huge fan of the Pape Nero, it's good, but their other fake Belgians are better than most real Belgians.
