You married your high school girlfriend?! Big Grin

That is quite romantic, imo.

It really is a shame what happened to him, imo. I mean, when he started out... some of those songs are true classics and deserve mention along side songs by the Beatles and Stones ("Tiny Dancer") but even by the late seventies, he just wasn't doing that anymore.

Elton John (the early/good stuff -- "Tiny Dancer", "Levon", "Honky Cat", "Rocketman")

early stuff was only great stuff.

My now wife and I saw him in high school. He walked out in a t-shirt, jeans, sat at the piano and let it rip.

I still remember that night even though you were not born. Razz

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is his finest work, imo.

Song or album?

Album

My favorites of his are Honky Chateau and Madman Across the Water.

He's made some good albums (including the ones you guys listed) but his 1970 album, "Elton John," which I believe was the first one released in the US, is still my favorite.

Have you tried the Pinot Badge named after their song?

No. Is it any good?

I heard somewhere that the song wasn't originally called Badge but that Harrison saw the word upside down and thought it ws 'Badge' and that Clapton liked that name better... or something along those lines...
Pat Metheny Group - Travels

Such a great compilation of the group live... superb musicianship. I've run out of superlatives for the live version of "Are You Going With Me?" Every time I hear it I am blown away.

By the way, nice call on the Marshall Crenshaw album the other day, Dom'n'Vin'sDad... I have so many good memories associated with that album
