You're talking about the late Bob "the Bear" Hite. Yes, his voice was so ill-suited for singing the blues, it always made me wonder if Canned Heat was from some foreign country that had no connection to the blues. Liechtenstein, maybe.

Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson sang Going Up The Country, not Bob "the Bear" Hite. They're both gone now, but Bob outlasted Al. I just listened to Goin' Up The Country for the first time in several years last week, and I was so impressed as to what a great performance it was on so many levels.

Sorry to disagree, but that song is one of the better things that ever came out of that period, IMNSHO.
