Dio - Holy Diver
I haven't heard Holy Diver since my band played it almost 20 years ago. I can still remember the bass line.

I still think the 2 Sabbath albums he sang on were some of their best work. Still love Children of the Sea. "In the misty morning....at the edge of time..." Classic. Who still writes cheezy lines like that these days?
baird, that'd be "ON the edge of time".....

Air "How does it make you feel"
p.s. I ended up partying with Dio once back in the mid 90's. Short and puny, but what vocal cords. Too bad all his music sounds the same - I told him just that, so he knows. I think Ritchie Blackmore exploited Dio's talent best. My band played lots of Sabbath covers too, but no Dio material, Ozzy and Gillan only.

Grun,
I don't think we will ever see another character like Dio in his heyday..... A 5 foot tall Italian guy, singing heavy metal in skin tight spandex, with a huge perm and the classic unbelievably hairy chest. He was a thing of beauty.
Sorry... IS a thing of beauty. I'm sure he's working in a Walmart somewhere.
Tbird,
I stand corrected.

good job grun. he dramatically altered his sound after you told him that.

the million dollar question is if you ever covered any sabbath WITH gillan on vocals? "disturbing the priest" baby!

baird, a walmart? i don't think so. "still touring"! he got craig goldy back on guitars and rudy sarzo on bass....

Beautiful. Does he still do the hand over the top of the neck technique on bass? I always thought that was so flaming. Wasn't Billy Sheehan available?
I should talk though, I already saw Priest and Queensryche this summer.

He should be now. I saw him backing up Steve Vai in April on what was reportedly the final show of his tour. That show was quite a wankfest, in the most positive sense of the word.

Ha-ha!! I was the frontman, dude! I needed oxygen pillow after covering Gillan's "trashed" and "hot line"
i am now in awe of you, grun!

Since there is no month on this thread, I guess that means this will go on forever?
Well, it will be interesting to compare what people listen to 10 years from now vs. today.

I have tried to stay away from this thread. I can not stand it any longer. So, now to show my age (at least I'm not bald, yet!)...
Little Feat, 'I've Been Down...', on http://www.radiomargaritaville.com (and now Sirius, also).
While I am a 'Parrot Head,' I couldn't listen to this all day, every day. But, I have to play something mellow for the customers in my store. The only problem is when they play songs like, 'Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw.'

To wank, means to masturbate, usually a male, hence the term, wanker.
A wankfest (although not in my dictionary), is what I assume to be a festival where wankers wank.
How could this not be a positive experience?
