"The Essential Mingus Big Band"

For any jazz fans out there, this disc is a must.

It's good to see another jazz fan on the board. "The three M's" - Miles, Mingus and Monk. Haven't explored Mingus -- yet.

Brighthue, Start with "Mingus Ah Um" and the from there Blues & Roots, The Clown or "Passion of a man box set. Then I would get the Mingus Big Band discs and see them live if you get the chance.
Don't forget the 4th M Hank Mobley Mobley's Blues is my theme song

I was a huge Rancid fan back when Let's Go and And Out Come the Wolves were released.

The first Transplants CD is better than Haunted Cities in my opinion. But I just picked up Haunted Cities so I'm still getting a feel for it and like you it is growing on me. I've been listening to all of Tim Armstrong's bands for awhile, one of my favorite musicians for sure.

Walt, Good to see another Hank Mobley fan out there. You made me search through all my discs including the Mosaic Box set and I don't have Mobley's Blues. What disc is that on? I tend to favor Tenor Sax players and Mobley's high up there as one of my favorite, after Rollins and Coltrane.

Jeff[/QUOTE]I think my dog ate that cd and I havn't been able to find it again, !@#$%.I finnally broke down and got the Madeleine Peyroux Careless Love cd with j'ai duex amours on it. She really doe's a great Billie Holiday impersanation and the accompaning intsruments sound terrific.
