Testament 'The Formation of Damnation'

What do you think of this? I have been giving it a try but not really won over.

'The Ritual' is the one album from Testament I enjoy.

I like Skolnick's guitar work a great deal. I thought this was the best thing from Testament since the 80's.

Loved them through their first 4 albums. I enjoy the new music but not a fan of Chuck Billy's newer "vocal" style.

I kind of like 'First Strike Still Deadly', a rerecord of their 80s stuff.

Still don't know why 'Ritual' gets no love.

Stevie Ray Vaughn's cover of "Little Wing". How wonderfully evocative.

I was almost going to comment about how it might be better than the original but, I'm not sure I'm going to make that comparison. Sting does an excellent cover as well. Any other recommendations for a cover of "Little Wing"?

I mean... really?

Pretty divergent take on it, but... Derek and the Dominoes. Wink

By far the best IMO

Big Grin

It is sort of like asking, "I love Bob Dylan's 'All Along the Watchtower', anyone know of any good covers?" or The Boxtops' "The Letter", or The BeeGees' "To Love Somebody". Just one tick shy of asking for a good cover of Otis Redding's "Respect". Banana

The second I saw Gary Clark Jr. I knew what song he would be playing.

John was underrepresented and poorly represented, too.

He did While My Guitar, right?

Hey Bulldog and In My Life are Lennon tunes. Revolution, too.

Yes, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

Yes, several Lennon tunes were played. Ironically, except for "In My Life" they were all non-album, and two of them were B-sides for McCartney A-sides. "Don't Let Me Down" ("Get Back"), "Revolution" ("Hey Jude"). But if they are going to do 3 Harrison, 2 Ringo, and 7+(?) Paul songs, John deserves a bit more than really bad covers of "Revolution" and "In My Life". Hard to imagine a tribute without "I am the Walrus" OR "Across the Universe" OR "A Day in the Life", for example.

Agreed, and my wife showed me the "alternative" video for the song on YouTube a couple days ago. Nice scenery. Woot

Ho chi mama! I bet they enjoyed making that video .

Maybe a little too much. Mr. Thicke and his wife announced their separation today.
In the top 5 of greatest live albums:
Jerry Lee Lewis: Live at the Star Club, Hamburg, 1964. Best quote from Rolling Stone magazine:
quote:
"'Live At The Star Club, Hamburg' is not an album, it's a crime scene: Jerry Lee Lewis slaughters his rivals in a thirteen-song set that feels like one long convulsion."

Half the songs are under three minutes, a couple under four, and Great Balls of Fire is a minute and thirty nine seconds!
