Cardigans - Long Gone Before Daylight

Spo, this is easily one of my Top (10) favorite albums. Very underrated album by a very underrated band.

Cool, Shane. There are a few tunes that move too slow for me but enjoy most of the album. I have Rhapsody so I just downloaded their next album and the vocalist's solo stuff called A Camp.

Arcade fire neon bible

Their new release comes out this month. Curious what people think of Neon Bible.

LOVE IT. I have to say, if the first single they released is a reflection of what is on the album, I am out. I think its the worst song they have ever done and I instantly swtich it off when it comes on the radio.

I think that's it. Long songs have a life of their own, some work, some don't. I like parts of this song but as a whole, it's not great.

Oh and on this rainy, grey day: Patrick Doyle's Henry V soundtrack done by the Birmingham Symphony. As always, simply wonderful.

Hehe...

I think it's total ace. Gets you dancing. I've preordered the album. Especially based on the tracks they played on the youtube clip from the secret Montreal club.

The Band - Rock of Ages (remastered, expanded version that was just released)

I've bragged before, I'll brag again. Saw The Band four times, once with the Dylan reunion show.

Would have loved to see that Dylan/Band tour.

I saw The Band once - September 1974 at Toronto's Varsity Stadium. The lineup was Jesse Colin Young, The Band and CSNY. Great night.

The Last Waltz is in my top five favourite concert films. (Woodstock is also on the list, as is Springsteen's Live in New York City.)

I've mentioned this disgusting factoid before: Did you ever notice Neil Young's cocaine booger that Scorsese attempted to remove by optically manipulating the film? Marty bragged that he successfully did it for "one of the musicians" but it was obvious on the big screen who it was.

Ack Never heard this before. Now I can't wait to get home and check it out.

John Wesley Harding (the album)

I was going to make a snarky comment, "As opposed to the singer Roll Eyes" And then I saw this:

John Wesley Harding.

Who the hell is he? Kind of like naming yourself Big Bad John.

If You Have Ghosts

That's the only song I have and he didn't even write it. From the most excellent tribute album to Roky Erickson.

I"m liking it. A bit shimmery, dirty and old school.

I like it too. Early 80s old school. The title song reminds me of Talking Heads with a bit of Blondie thrown in.

I don't like either of those bands but I agree, it does sound like them. And I like it a lot! New album's online for streaming. Liking it very much. Out on Tuesday...

LOL I quite liked Talking Heads when they expanded their lineup in 1980 with Adrian Belew, etc.

I also hear a bit of that 80s Duran Duran "Hungry Like the Wolf" sound, and I detest Duran Duran. But yeah, all those influences are working really well here.
What I have been waiting for....jam session with my 4-yo daughter tonight...her on ukulele and me on guitar. We rocked twinkle, twinkle little star, complete with improv lyrics. I bought the uke to distract my son during her violin practice, but where she strums it, he just swings it around by the neck. My wife loves our bongo set up.

Wow! We didn't talk metal when you were here a few months ago. "More Than Meets the Eye" is a great track. I saw these guys a few times late 80's/early 90's, then again a few years ago.

I just wish Metal was less expensive on vinyl. I paid $25 for Slayer this weekend and everything else was under $10 and most of it under $5. I mean I paid $3 for Bukka White on Takoma and $9 for Professor Longhair on Alligator.

Trying to like Gary Clark Jr.

Incredible guitarist, truly talented. I don't like most of his songs, but he has so many different styles, and a few of the songs I do like. It will be really interesting to see how his career progresses. He has more stuffing than any new artist I've heard in decades.

Also,

Lots o' Janis Joplin

He's supporting Kings Of Leon. Debating whether to go. If I did, I'd check him out for sure. Not til next year though...
