I'll see your AA problems and raise you with United. Retarded is more like it. Totally clueless as to what a customer is or what business they are in. <end of rant>

that's truth too.
I have almost 2mil miles on AA but only a couple hundred thousand on United. Both are pretty awful. United was abominable last year. Hopefully they get stuff sorted out. But I've only flown them once this year and the return flight was only 5 hours late due to a service issue on the plane, so they're not off to a good start.
Seriously missing my stereo. Listening to Glenn Gould play Bach on YouTube through my MBP speakers. Weak.

Those of us in Houston are not pleased with the merger between Continental and United.

Steve, I'm confused. Are you suggesting people still fly United?

Surely you jest!

Yea, I made the switch to AA this year after many, many years with United, but I grew incredibly dismayed with ground and air operations after the merger. I still fly quite a bit on Star Alliance, but domestically I have shifted to AA, although they are often equally infuriating.
Bitter, middle aged divorcees exuding surliness on every flight. Not only AA, but every American carrier has hags for attendants....their aging seevice labor force does the marketing department no favors. We flew Malaysia air a few years ago and even my wife was saying how smoking hot the flight attendant were.

Flight attendants here in the US don't make a lot of money, so it's doubtful they will attract that kind of talent. Brutal job, my mom did this, after her bitter divorce....no joke. I give her credit, she is very pleasant and intelligent, but was treated like crap by the passengers, especially the women business travelers for whatever reason. Worked till she was almost 70. Hopefully the service returns to that industry, until then I would rather drive.

I certainly meant no offence and I apologize for what must be perceived, after re-reading, as an insensitive and mysogynistic comment. Poor service is all too common on American flights, however, especially in economy. As one who has flown many times with small children, I, too, am an easy target....dirty looks, grumbling and out and out hostility are commonplace....and my kids are relatively well behaved on planes and trains.

Los Lobos
Yeah, he has put on some poundage. We saw him in the Keys a couple years ago and it was freezing outside that day so FKG snuck into the green room area and chatted with him for a while. He introduces himself, Hi I am Jerry Jeff and she goes, uh, yeah I know, I am Stephanie. After chatting it was show time, so we walked out of the Green Room with him, the promoters, the cops and everyone else and basically marched up to the front with him and the band for a front row view of the show. Was awesome

My friend, I fear you may not be familiar with the literal meaning of the word "freezing."

Well, it's all relative. You know the famous Mark Twain quote, I assume.

When used to 70-80 and you are outside for 8 hours in 40 degree temps and you don't have proper clothes it is freezing believe it or not

Then I read the name of this group, who I haven't thought of in 40 years.
So Tom and I were driving along in 1971 and at the exact same instance started singing, from Walk Away "Seems to me..."
In addition they are in that big bomb of a movie Zachariah written by the greatest comedy group that ever lived--The Firesign Theatre.
