Just might be our first ever G Lightfoot post. Wink Big Grin

Love him and had the pleasure of serving him and his wife a private dinner this past summer.

a little St Germain this morning

Cool ... I never really listened to Lightfoot until I heard him on a pair of Klipschorn Corner floor standing speakers, Crown tube Amp and Continuum Caliburn turntable. Big Grin

There's something about floor standing speakers. They may be old school but I'll be kicking and screaming if my KEF q900s ever get replaced with wussie wall mount speakers.
Personally, I think they complement each other well.

Great record. Making Plans for Nigel, along with Once in a Lifetime by the Talking Heads, is a song that really caught my attention when I started university. Such a different sound from what I grew up listening to as a spotty faced, long hair kid.

Complicated Game Cool I think I'll give it a spin tonight after work.

Big Grin You were not even born when Nixon was in the oval office. Razz

Nope. Missed Ford and Carter, too. Smile (Well, technically, I think I was alive for a few months of Carter, don't remember much of it, though Razz...)

Pretty pissed off at Atila the Hunn, too. He just isn't referenced in "Ohio" quite as often. Wink

The times were interesting to say the least in 1968 - 1972.
Was recently turned on to Rodrigo y Gabriela. Amazing guitarists. Flat out amazing. Love their work.

Also been cycling a lot through the following:

Beethoven's Symphony #9
- Chicago Symphony & Sir Georg Solti (1987)

Bach: Brandenburg Concertos (Orchestral Suites & Violin Concertos)
- Academy of St Martin In the Fields & Sir Neville Marriner (2002)

In Search of Sunrise, Vol 1
- Tiesto (1999)
*A trance classic, still holds up to my ears

Another Late Night
- Fila Brazilia (2001)
*Absolutely fantastic late night mix album. Great beats and some fantastic mixing.

Into the Trees
- Zoe Keating (2010)
*If you love the cello - I highly recommend checking her out on youtube or iTunes. Fantastic stuff

Songbook (Live)
- Chris Cornell (2011)
*AMAZING album if a fan of Chris Cornell

Visions of Ibiza
- Chicane (2001)

I spent some time earlier practicing preludes and fugues from the WTC so I guess I'm ok.

Good for you. I am a bit out of practice myself. I should get some inspiration and scrape away some scales this weekend.

I can't really play. I never had to do scales when I was young. Now I want to play so am learning them.

No matter, you're making the effort and I commend it. The Suzuki learning books I can highly recommend.

Woot... did your beautiful bride hack into your account?

I'm actually trying to get her into opera, as it hasn't historically been her "thing". Razz

I wish you success with that. A friend of mine married, tried to get his wife into it, and it never took, and he hasn't been to the opera since, I don't think.

I thought you were going to say he decided to get a new wife. Wink

Big Grin I'll give up opera before that, however she'll GO to an opera, just isn't as much into listening in the car or hanging around the house. Usually when I listen it's during "me time" when I'm driving a long distance or relaxing, so I'm OK with it. Cool

Well well. I had the roof open and Highway 61 Revisited playing in the car after our lunch off-line today.

Pfffftt...

I was listening to Blonde on Blonde.

Wink

(Though, technically, I believe Highway 61 Revisited > Blonde on Blonde... by a hair.)

So, now we're listening to the same things at the same time?! (Joe Cocker, yesterday.) Eek Eek
