Ok. Seriously, if you come back here with Blue, Moondance, Astral Weeks, or Another Side of Bob Dylan (or even The Band, Surrealistic Pillow, Revolver, or Blonde on Blonde, John Wesley Harding, or Bringing it all Back Home) I may have to look into paranormal activity vis a vis musical taste. Smile

Ella Fitzgerald, Lady Be Good.

Classic.

Ella was a little before my time and unfortunately the big man does not make them like that anymore. Her scat singing was incredible. Cool

Before my time as well, but most of the greatest music was before my time. Smile
Off and on today, listening to "Torture after Turkey Day", the clinching games of the NL West on the last game of the season, NLDS, NLCS, and World Series. Still SWEET. Interesting to hear some of the local broadcast I had missed ranging from the melt down of Sanchez in Game 6 of the NLCS to the final out of the season. Almost one month and still SWEET. This was not supposed to be THE year but it was. Big Grin

What station played it? Always a great 19 minute plus or minus escape.

My CD player. Smile

Are you on the Group W bench? :P

Hope you are doing well and enjoyed the Thanksgiving Holiday.

I would definitely be placed there, or should be, anyway.

Happy Turkey-Day!

Good taste.

Black Keys' album in my 2010 top 5.

Haven't heard the album, but 'Tighten Up' has to be just about the best new song I've heard this year.

I don't listen to nearly enough current music, other than what I hear at the gym.

I'll check this out.

You've probably heard Next Girl. I suggest you get the album then. Listen to Sinister Kid, and a great Jerry Butler Cover from '68: 'Never Gonna Give You Up' not to be confused with Mr. Astley's tune.

Most current music is dreck, and I still would not put this up against the best U2 has to offer. But it beats the other current stuff.

Since the very early '90s there have been isolated examples of excellence ("Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star, for example) but as the child of baby boomers, 85%-90% of what I listen to is the same as what my father listens too, and most of my twentysomething and very early thirties friends are the same way.

That percentage is well over the top! I also hope there are loads more 'examples' from where that solitary example came from! I'd say 50% of what I listen to, my father has/does/would. But babyboomers are stuck in their ways and very narrow-minded when it comes to music. Maybe everyone has their date when their passion to discover ends - glad I haven't hit mine yet. There is loads of brilliant 'current' music since the 90's. It just depends on your source. If you listen to radio with commercials for instance, you're screwed and I don't blame anyone for repudiating new music based on what's dished on them.

Rest assured there is plenty.

West used to live in the town that I grew up in, I am pretty sure that I made him a sandwich when I worked at the local deli.

Greatness...love Astral Weeks!

And Moondance doesn't suck either! Two of my top 10 (maybe even top 5) albums!
