Mrs. Gigabit rented a condo in Park City last night with some friends, so Dad was home with the boys. My good friend came over for steaks and wine, and we prepared for the upcoming U2 360 Tour by watching the following concert DVDs:

U2 - Under a Blood Red Sky - Live at Red Rocks
U2 - ZOO TV - Live from Sydney
U2 - Elevation - Live from Boston

October 23rd can't get here soon enough. Cool

Good album.

It really is. It seems as though every time I listen to it I enjoy it and appreciate it more and more. I also think their album Autopilot is just wonderful as well. "As Tears Fall" is really a beautiful song, one that I would imagine would have been difficult to write.
Right now, however, I'm listening to a couple live concert albums. The live album of my favorite Aussie band, Midnight Oil, Scream in Blue (Live) just rips. "Dreamworld", "Stars of Warburton", "Sometimes", and "Hercules" are simply amazing. What an incredible band, with one of the most talented and underrated guitar players (Jim Moginie) around.

Metallica's S & M just blows me away... friggin' brilliant. Every time I listen to it I think "Damn, I wish I'd have been there."

Yes, all good stuff. Also many good songs from their self titled first album. Thank you for reminding me of this band. I think I will play some for the remaining summer. Good music with sun & water.

Radiohead: "Amnesiac" what I consider their best album.

Really? Even better than Pablo Honey?

By the way, have you seen the Youtube video of Thom singing Portishead's "The Rip"?

Sorry guys, you both have it wrong. The Bends is their finest hour.

I was being sarcastic about Pablo Honey. I agree that The Bends is a great album, but I discovered them late some two years after OK Computer, so I still like that one the best.

Easily one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time. Beautiful, haunting stuff, Karma Police still gives me a shiver everytime I hear it.

That's the track that got me into it. What a song...

Great tune. How many other rock tunes include the word "phew" in the lyrics?
Beethoven Sonata No.17 in D minor, Op.31 No.2 - Allegretto

My favorite Sonata, it puts me back in a good mood even after a bad day. I have had a canceled dinner, a corked wine, and discovered some potentially heat damaged wine. Plus most of my close friends are away for in Portland or Hongkong for the next month. Sorry for the rant, but the power of music is just amazing.

R.E.M. - Monster; the band at the top of their form. Cool

Excellent choice, though I prefer Life's Rich Pageant and Document (particularly the latter) even more. ("Oddfellows Local 151" is a favorite of mine).
I agree with gigabit, it's probably their best and one of their most underrated.

Me too. What do you think of them?

I just picked it up the other day so have only listened to it once. I have a self-imposed 3 listen rule before deciding on an album, but it sounds pretty good so far. Good vocal interplay between the two singers.
A great morning of Minnesota Public Radio on the ride in:

Bach- Italian Concerto...I would like to have heard more of this played by Matt Damon in his role as Tom Ripley.

Puccini's Tosca; Recondita armonia...while only orchestra this morning, it is easy to "hear" Pavarotti sing this; probably my second favorite song to hear him sing next to Nessun dorma.
