WEEE-HAA!!! Big Grin Good stuff! Nobody bends a note like Dwight. Cool

To this day, of all the concerts I've been to - and that includes a number of Rock, Heavy Metal, Classical Music, and Jazz concerts - I've never been to a louder, more rowdy concert than Dwight Yoakam. Hard to believe but it's true... he and the band played damn loud (no problem here) and the audience was as rowdy as they come. Tons of fun!

From Buble's Caught in the Act concert video: "I hate to see you go, but I love to watch you leave..." Big Grin
His wonderful voice and playful personality on stage fits the music well; too cool! Wink

If you ever get the chance to see him in person, I highly recommend it. Saw him in concert in Seattle a couple years ago. Fantastic performance!
A good portion of the audience that night were his relatives (since we're fairly close to his hometown in BC), including his grandmother who was celebrating a birthday that night. He ran out into the audience with a candle-topped cupcake and lead the entire auditorium in singing Happy Birthday to her. Big Grin
Between his bits, he sang 22 songs that evening.
Man, that was a fun night!
I often tell my friends, Diana Krall puts on a concert, but Buble puts on a SHOW! Big Grin

They say Mendelssohn would have been one of the greats had he not lived such a privlidge (albeit very short) life. I dissgaree. I think he is one of the greats.

Now his overtures (Claudio Abbado, LSO, DG). Geez, I haven't listened to these in months. So good. The Hebrides is the first piece of symphonic music I ever loved (assuming you don't count the first movement of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata")

Brilliant. Which?

A mix. Just finished Tangled up in Blue, now Mr. Tambourine Man.

You have horrible taste in music. Razz Razz

Big Grin Wink

...and you inherited it! Wink

Seriously. Are you sure you didn't have an affair with a woman in NYC in '79. Because that would explain a lot.

A great writer, but singer... Eek

I, and Bono and Rolling Stone Magazine dissagree.
Not trying to knock a local legend; while his song writing was brilliant, his "nasal" voice for me left something to be desired. Having said that, I enjoy his music enough to compensate for what I don't appreciate from him vocally.
Ouch...my Itunes collection has a whole bunch of stuff I don't realize I even have..stuff accumulated over time from friends via bulk sharing (not actually paying attention to what they were giving me), etc. Left for a bit and came back to "Jesus Walks" from Kanye West...and it must be the worst thing I've heard in years.

Ooo, thanks for the reminder, I've been meaning to iTunes some more Kanye. And, some Michael Jackson as well. Bought Thriller from iTunes a couple of years ago, need to get a few more select MJ tunes if the service hasn't crashed. Note to self, buy Apple stock.

I believe that this is, by far, his best work.

I saw the 1991 Soul Cages Tour; it was my first exposure to the guitar playing of Dominic Miller, and he was incredible. The band covered Purple Haze that night and it blew me away. Cool

I like Nothing Like the Sun best. Going to see him on 7/19. Looking forward to the show.

I saw them three times in the mid-late 80's in small venues and they were always a great show.

I saw them open for a Dave Matthews concert when I started college and they were awesome.

They are an American treasure. Still one of my favorite bands to see live, they continue to evolve. I was first turned on to them in 1998 and was literally pissed that I hadn't been into them prior to that. I think I went to about 10 shows that summer up and down the east coast.
