I thought, since the day it was announced, that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. I've thought, for about 20 years, that Ted Nugent is also a joke. However, he's as right as rain here--

"The thought of a pioneering hip-hop artist in the Rock Hall of Fame so upsets him that, in the interview published on KNAC.com, Nugent says it’s tantamount to urinating on the graves of rock’s original pioneers. 'What a middle finger to the "real" heroes of rock ‘n’ roll and rhythm and blues to put in those other people, 'he says. 'Grandmaster Flash? Really? Why don’t we go down to Chuck Berry’s grave and piss on it?'

"Insisting it’s nothing personal, Nugent says, 'I’m not angry that I’m not in there because I’m having so much fun that it’s stupid.' But, he asks, 'Why isn’t a band like Triumph in there, but Grandmaster Flash is? That’s just dishonest! Why are Patti Smith, ABBA and Madonna in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, but not Styx? Are you kidding me?! You can only explain that is that the people who made those decisions are just plain rotten people! The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame should genuflect to Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters (and) the Funk Brothers… How dare you put Grandmaster Flash, ABBA and Madonna in that?'”

I'm not a Ted Nugent fan and won't offer an opinion as to whether or not he should be in.  I do agree with his sentiment; although, again, I don't necessarily agree with him on some that have been  left out of the "Hall".   Yes, there should be a LOT more of the early blues musicians.  A LOT.

What I WILL say is that, yes, the Hall of "Fame" is a joke.  When I was there, I was not only shocked me that more was not made of Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Honeyboy Edwards, but that there was virtual nothing on Bob Dylan other than a single photo and one of his guitars.  This is the most influential and decorated rock musician and lyricist ever (Oscar, Grammy, Nobel Prize).  When I visited shortly before COVID, I asked a senior staff member why Dylan was ignored.  He said, "well he only gave us the one guitar."  So, this is really the "Hall of Whoever Gives Us the Most Stuff."  Yes, a total joke.

Agree 100%. It should be called the Hall of American Top 40 hits.  So many true rock acts not there. My personal greatest disappointment is The Guess Who. They had many Top 40 hits but still not even nominated once.

We can agree or disagree, but I'd like to see not only Styx in there, but Supertramp and Alan Parsons as well.

I have not issue with any of those, they should all be in anything that calls itself a Rock Hall of Fame.  But so should The Guess Who, unless the Hall is only for acts famous in the US, notwithstanding the fact that TGW had lots of hits there too.
