That said, this young woman is fantastically talented. From her good looks, I originally chalked her up to another pretty face with little talent. But having heard many of her songs at least 10x over the last week, I must admit that she has some serious music chops and obviously is a marketing genius at the ripe age of 25 (or did she turn 26 already?)

I hate to admit it, but I tend to agree more as time passes. I still change the station when she comes on, but I'm starting to notice I hesitate a little with her more recent releases.

The problem is always, "compared to what?"
She's very talented so long as you've never heard Joni Mitchell or Janis Joplin. Or Grace Slick's best stuff. Or even Stevie Nicks' best stuff. Or Ani DiFranco's best songs. Or Fiona Apple's.
If we're comparing Taylor to Alanis Morissette or Britney Spears or Miley Cyrus then, yeah, Taylor is really talented. But why is that the bar?
