What's the connection between Merle Haggard and the song Uncertain Smile?
I'm surprised you didn't know that Merle was the guy humming in the background during the vocals!

Joni Mitchell, miles of aisles
Michael Jackson, various songs
It's funny. I don't think of his music often and it literally has been about 7 years -- his death -- since I actually sat down and listened for a while. But, something struck me so I did. Like my reaction 7 years ago, wow. He really was amazing.

The sound of my neighbor's edger. In a few weeks that will be irritating. Right now, it's a really pleasant indication that we made it through another winter....

Not the only one, but a minority for sure. Haven't heard the new Parquet Courts yet, but do like Sunbathing Animal.

Oh well.
FWIW the new Parquet Courts is fabulous. I might even upgrade my A rating. I'm a big fan of theirs too and find this to arguably be the best record yet.
For those that like older music, I think this album reaks of the velvet underground. Arguably talking heads too. Very creative and certainly worth a listen.

I don't listen to a lot of new pop music. Only a little new jazz, but there's some pretty great jazz stuff going on.
Right now, I'm listening to The Bad Plus Joshua Redman - they were at the Old Town School last night. It was awesome. Live music is better.
