I think they are just being interviewed. Letterman is receiving the Kennedy Center Honors this year along with Zepplin, Dustin Hoffman, and couple of others. He is interviewing his fellow honorees over the next couple of weeks...

Pretty lame interview I thought. You don't get the sense that letterman knows much about music.
