The vastly overrated Michael Buble inside an SF Starbucks. Thankfully, we don't play this crap at Starbucks in Taiwan.

Amen. One of the best bands ever, in my opinion.

Overrated? I think he's appropriately rated as a capable crooner of covers (mostly), filling the next Harry C. Jr void, no? Don't think anyone reckons he's a great artist despite his massive popularity do they?
Stones Roses, Jesus and Mary Chain, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Big Pink.
Christmas carols!
The office I'm working out of this week while traveling has Christmas carols on it's Muzak system - c'mon man! Let's get past Thanksgiving then I'm on the team but not yet...

Thank you Adam. My one question is among the vast ocean of lounge singers who have never been able to come up with their own material.... How in the heck did this guy make it? His voice certainly is nothing to get excited about. Not quite sure how he became so popular bastardizing the classics of long-dead greats.
Disagree! He has excellent tone and an exceptional voice. Personally, being a fan of the long dead greats, I am glad he keeps this music "alive". "Bastardizing", not even close!quote:Originally posted by TPEwinedrinker:

As a fan of the long dead greats, I will simply choose to continue to listen to the long dead greats.
I enjoy and prefer them as well, but not on subject of your critique.quote:Originally posted by TPEwinedrinker:quote:Originally posted by MJAlbers:Disagree! In Utero. DVR'd Live at Paramount and watched it for the first time tonight. Nostalgic night, for sure.

I'm on the fence. He definitely has a good voice, unless you're an incredible singer? I see your point but he does serve a purpose of bringing this music to popularity and kids can see it live...plus, he paid his dues...lived broke for a fair while trying to make it...had his girlfriend supporting the two of them I think...and now he has a nice Argie missus, too!

I scored off some fansite the live recording of the gig I went to, bootlegged. I have no idea how you sneak in a camcorder in 1993!
Listening to some Stan Getz - it's a sax kind of a day around here.
Cosi fan tutte.

Reginald Dwight

On a related note, I NEVER watch Leno. But last night I saw the last few minutes for some unexplained reason. He had on Tom Morello (featuring Ben Harper). Perhaps the single most impressive new song I've heard in a decade, maybe more. The real thing.
+1 the hammer.
Great tune!

Yep. Here is a youtube link to the album version. It was better live, but the recorded version is good, as well. (Slightly off topic, Morello's live jam with Springsteen at the Rock Hall concert has to be one of the greatest live recorded guitar solos ever.)
Johnny Winter Live Bootleg.
STP... Down. Life is a balancing act and right now, this is it!
Botti- Italia
Itzhak Perlman.
Miles Davis.

Coltrane is next up I'm thinking.
Jake and the never land pirates followed by the wonder pets. I'll take that over vino bevo's Christmas carols I guess.
Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee.

Schubert Winterreise
Gil Shaham American Scenes.
Cults album is in my top 5 of the year. (That did come out this year, right?).
Listening now to Truckstop Darlin'. If you're a fan of Drive-by Truckers, you'll probably like TD.

Queen, Greatest Hits
Is that the 3-CD set from Queen? Picked it up for a dollar at a garage sale earlier this year. A great listen, and they weren't even one of my favorite bands. I think we got the Beatles #1's for the same price at the same time.
Brahms Horn Trio and Piano Quintet
