I concur with 6music. Great album. My runner up for 2010 is Wolf Parade's Expo 86. Definitely worth a listen.quote:Originally posted by Adam10:

Seriously, between this (probably my favorite album of all time) and your Juliette Binoche... errr... Unbearable Lightness of Being post...
Anyway, Dire Straits and Derek and the Dominoes this morning.
P.S. Lena Olin isn't too shabby either, and DDL is my favorite actor.

Everything listed above, brilliant.

Cliff Edwards, When You Wish Upon a Star.
Audrey Hepburn, Moon River.
Bach Chaconne from the Partita for Violin No.2. First Heifitz, then Hillary Hahn. A devastatingly profound piece of music! Worthy of awe!
Excellent! Stick...I look forward to sharing some wine, conversation, and good music with you someday. I love violin, and Lucia Micarelli.quote:Originally posted by stickman:

The violin is like the chordae tendineae of the heart; delicate, yet powerful and emotional.

It's so much fun to torture my high school / college age kids with 70's and 80's Rock-n-Roll

We will definitely have to partake together, hopefully sooner rather than later. I performed with Lucia about two years ago as part of Chris Botti's roster. Both she and Chris are a true joy to work with.
Fwiw, are you related to Julie Albers, cellist?

Stickman,
Do you ever listen to James Ehnes?
Very nice stick! I can't think of a better steward of Jazz than Botti; must of have been a great experience!quote:Originally posted by stickman:quote:Originally posted by MJAlbers:

To my knowledge, no direct relation to Julie, although, she has the "look" of our family. But then again, Josef Albers looks like my grandfather, but not sure if there is any direct relationship there either. Someday I would like to research the family tree...

'Never heard him live, but I've heard some of his Bruch from recordings. Impressive player to be sure!
Assorted works of the great Van Morrison.
Ellington's "I Like the Sunrise" as sung by Kurt Elling, by far my favorite version of this classic. Mmmmm.

Astral Weeks - the album, straight through. Sure, I've done it hundreds of times, but still, holy crap.
Van Halen - 5150
Civil Twilight - Civil Twilight
Stereolab - Transient Random Noise Bursts With Announcements
Ween, Piss up a Rope.
Deepchord Presents Echospace - The Coldest Season
I was able to get half of the series on vinyl recently, such an amazing album if you're at all into ambient, film music, techno, or drone.
And aptly titled to be listened to during winter.
