Good taste.

Black Keys' album in my 2010 top 5.

Haven't heard the album, but 'Tighten Up' has to be just about the best new song I've heard this year.

I don't listen to nearly enough current music, other than what I hear at the gym.

I'll check this out.

You've probably heard Next Girl. I suggest you get the album then. Listen to Sinister Kid, and a great Jerry Butler Cover from '68: 'Never Gonna Give You Up' not to be confused with Mr. Astley's tune.

Most current music is dreck, and I still would not put this up against the best U2 has to offer. But it beats the other current stuff.

Since the very early '90s there have been isolated examples of excellence ("Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star, for example) but as the child of baby boomers, 85%-90% of what I listen to is the same as what my father listens too, and most of my twentysomething and very early thirties friends are the same way.

That percentage is well over the top! I also hope there are loads more 'examples' from where that solitary example came from! I'd say 50% of what I listen to, my father has/does/would. But babyboomers are stuck in their ways and very narrow-minded when it comes to music. Maybe everyone has their date when their passion to discover ends - glad I haven't hit mine yet. There is loads of brilliant 'current' music since the 90's. It just depends on your source. If you listen to radio with commercials for instance, you're screwed and I don't blame anyone for repudiating new music based on what's dished on them.

Rest assured there is plenty.
