Paul Rogers doing a live version of Queen's "fat Bottom Girls". It's very good but would be better if my wife wasn't reading and I could turn the volume up to 10.
Derek
listening to this right now. "return of the champions" - queen + paul rodgers
after listening to this in it's entirity 3 x's, it's official. i do not like this pairing.
A really cool Queen cover is Geoff Tate of Queensryche doing Need Somebody to Love.
This guy has the best range BY FAR in rock and does it as good or (I hate to say it) even better than Mercury. Truly a great cover. His version of Rush's Closer to the Heart isn't bad either.

Baird-
Yes!!! Goeff Tate is absolute incredible in his vocal abilities! He rocks. His song, "Someone Else," is incredible. It's on their Promised Land LP.

Steve8,
As a Montrealer, I thought you might think it was pretty damn cool that Arcade Fire was playing last night at the ACC just as U2 hit the stage. I swear to god I could hear Bono singing along with "Wake Up" for a bit before jumping into Vertigo. Quite a neat thing to see, IMO.

How was Arcade Fire? I hear they're excellent live, but that was a big venue for them. You would think I would have seen them before living here, but no

Arcade Fire didn't play. They were just playing assorted songs off various CDs before U2 came on.
Dashboard Confessional opened and I didn't see much of them as they were boring. More exciting to stand in line for a $12.50 beer.

Ahhh, I should have read your post more closely. $12.50 for a beer!!

That is friggin' beautiful. I have never seen a band where every musician absolutely sucks.

The guitar solo killed me. Note for note but no clue! Man, that tableture music sheets from the magazines is a dangerous thing in the wrong hands.

What an amazing recording that is. I was just listening to Coletrane's ballads and his duet record with Johnny Hartman on vocals. He was as good at what he did as anyone ever at what they did, regardless of what it was.
Tonight I am listening to Michael Brecker's first solo record called Michael Brecker. Pat Metheny has some amazing guitar work on this record.
Cheers.

The Johnny Hartman set is a lovely romantic soporific but A Love Supreme raises the bar exponentially with the modal concept. Giant Steps is in the middle ground and tickles the jazz fancy relentlessly. Ascension is another matter.
For more thrills, groove on LIVE AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD.

They were before my time, during that tour I was about 3. I became aware of them in the last few years though, great punk band.
