6 X 2015 Altesino Montosoli Brunello

First purchase in a while but this is a very special bottle Ive been waiting for. Summer 2015 my then 16 year old son and I took trip of a lifetime to Europe. We only went to one winery and it was Altesino. We did a full tasting/tour walked the vineyards and stopped by the Montosoli vineyard on our way into Montalcino to take a look. We saw these grapes on the vines. These are for him.

I'm always amazed this actually makes its way to shelves in Quebec.

It was actually released two years ago and sold out quickly. I got 2 bottles then. Imagine my surprise when the signature store had 12 bottles all of a sudden. Seems that a case allocated for restaurants wasn’t sold so they gave it to the Signature store -and put it back into inventory. I was able to purchase 6 bottles by cc and have it delivered to the closest saq. The rosados and gran reservas are much much harder to come by. But I got lucky with some 2008 rosados and 95 red GRs. Spoke to both import agents here and in Ontario and getting these wines is like chasing after unicorns, very elusive indeed.

2019 Kir-Yianni Paranga Macedonia, Greece

That reminds me, I have 4 2006 Tondonia Reserva Blanco and 2 2009 Gran Reserva Rosado on pre-arrival coming at some point in the next century...

Lucky man, I only had a chance to buy a bottle off a wine list of the 2009 rosado and it was stellar!

Glad to read it!

Lucky you bomba.  How much did you have to give for it?  Some of our LWS are selling it for up to $100.00 a bottle.  Way overpriced.

That's what I paid and after trying it well worth the tariff. I found it a slight step below Lot B. Wine searcher low is $175 and I've never seen it at retail out here.

The longer this goes the more we'll likely see things show up in retail that were earmarked for restaurants

Congrats on trying Weller 12 for the first time......

$99.99 is the cheapest you’ll likely find it in CA, and it doesn’t last long at that price.  Suffice to say anything lower priced here  is quickly snapped up.

Nice DD- must have been Zachy's internet auction.  Lots of old Cali cabs to choose from.  Tempting, but had to show restraint. Did you pick up the '99 Lake that was for sale as well?

Nice buys.  Sailors on shore leave in Bangkok after a year at sea typically don't have fine wine at the top of their shopping list.  They spend their money on things that require penicillin afterwards.

A case of the most expensive Bedrock I've ever bought. But when you get those library release allocations you can't say no.

I'm with you.  I only bought one set of the 2013 Exposition Series when they were offered the first time, so buying one more set put me down quite a bit from the get go.  And I love his Karatas wine, so that 2012 offering was an easy "must" purchase.

Nothing. I promised myself to buy less than I drink in 2020. COVID has helped that decision, one of the few side benefits of the virus. With my business down over 60% and no end in sight to the US/Canada border closure, it’s easy to delete email offers.

My buying so far this year:

January: 35 bottles
February: 13
March: 8
April: 0

But I did place a request for 6 bottles of the 2014 Dunn Howell Mountain Petite Sirah. First vintage produced since 1995. Fingers crossed.

I knew you would. I passed as I dont know whether I'll be around long enough to enjoy them at the age I like them
