Drinking  through my cellar during the pandemic has made it clear that I have way too much expensive wine and not enough good quality value wine.  I feel guilty about opening an $80 bottle with take out Chinese food.

So what $15-20 bottles is everyone buying that you consider to be "really good"?  It has to be something currently available and relatively widely available.   Please list the store or site where it can found, and price, for everyone's benefit.

I will start it off:

2018 Garzon tannat reserva- Costco- $15.99

2017 Hns. Peres Pascua El Pedrosal Crianza - $15.99- Bottle King stores throughout N.J.

Perhaps just slightly north of the price range you are asking...

Before the virus hit I was picking up 2016 Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva for $17.99 at Costco for pasta & tomato sauce type nights.  An unusually good vintage for it, actually.  Or it is a better wine than I recalled from the few past vintages I had tasted.  I think its actual asking price is $23ish outside Costco.

The only other red I can think of that would qualify is the 2018 Guy Breton Boujolais-Villages Cuveé Marylou which is $22 and excellent.

Again, slightly more expensive, but @ $24, the 2018 Cantina Terlano "Terlaner Cuveé" is a lovely white.

Tough to find a whole lot at the LCBO that's sub-$15 CAD.

Boutari Naoussa Reserve ($15 CAD) and Grande Reserve ($23 CAD)
Bodegas Campillo Rioja Fermentado en Barrica (Blanco) ($19 CAD)
Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis (about $15 USD)
Podere Poggio Scalette Chianti Classico (about $16 USD)
El Enemigo Chardonnay ($25 CAD)

My bottles of 2015 Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva were $21.95 USD.

2015 Beronia rioja reserva for $15.99 at SDWC.  They had the 2016 Condado de Hazo for $16.99 also.
It’s been spoken of here before, but thing about many European wine makers, their domestic markets expect a quality wine around this price point.  While I haven’t lived in Europe for a number of years, it was always a standard to be able to get a decent bottle of wine at a restaurant for ~ 20 euro or so....at least when I was living there.  How they produce, bottle, transport and have the vendors make a profit on wines like the above is a minor miracle in my book.

ProSys, I have a hard time believing you even know where the shelves with the $15 bottles are in your local stores.

I picked up and tried the 2020 Colomé, Torrontes for CDN$18 the other day. Not bad, but could actually use a little time in the bottle to settle down. I'll grab a couple more for next summer quaffing.

I’m not cheap.  But I’m frugal!!!

You mean $16.25 right? Inspire points whore.

Holy crap. I checked the inventory this morning and it's flying off the shelves.

No its $14.25 because if you got the 4000 points per bottle, in store there is an additional promotion of $1.75 or 1750 points as well. So for a 20.50$ bottle, you get 5.75$ worth of points. You are welcome

And I had a bottle. Not a stunner but well made everyday quaffer for that price.

Bought 2 cases of the Valmagaz Bierzo from the KGBO over the weekend.  An absolute steal at $11.25 CAD ($9 or so in actual money).

I purchased a bunch of these as well. First couple were fine but have now opened 3 that have been flawed. 2 corked and 1 that could pass as vinegar.

I actually saved it and may use it. It literally smells and tastes like a premium red wine vinegar.

Ignore him Mim.  Inspire points are well worth the effort.  I've got over $600 worth at the moment and have already used maybe $300 up to now.

If I suddenly croak please help mrs bman use them.  Unless she's the one who offed me, of course!

600$? Wow. I’ve never gotten past 200$ worth without using it. That’s  awesome
